And now, a preview of comming attractions

Using the newly released (and awesome…thanks, Sundog!) Burma Terrain, we’ll be running “Sharks Over China” in the CT…as soon as v1.10 is released, of course;).  On one side, you’ll have the American 23rd Fighter Group, the direct descendents of the Flying Tigers.  Opposing them will be the IJAF and IJN.  The planeset is as follows:

Allies –
P-40E, Boston Mk III, SBD Dauntless, C-47, M-8, M-3, M-16, PT

Axis –
A6M2, Ki67, Val, C-47, M-8, M-3, M-16, PT

I may also include a couple of Allied bases with Hurricane Mk I’s in place of the P-40, and no SBD’s.  While the A6M2’s were not seen much over Mainland China, it is the contemporary of the P-40 in all other respects.  I only wish we had some Ki43 Oscars’ to throw into the mix, as these and the Claude made up the vast majority of fighters encountered by the 23rd FG in Burma.  However, from a balance standpoint the A6M2 is far superior, and will give a good accounting of itself.

Dang it Sabre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
CHINA?? How about a little Solomons Islands action with the new F4Fs????????;)

I'm sure China will be great, and I m looking forward to it, not as much as getting an F4F, SBD,  vs A6m2 D3A, battle going. Yes Pity there is no KI-43, the KI-27 Nate was a widley used bird in China as well.

Keep up the good work CT Crew

Hey, we're working on it :).  I'm looking forward to some early war Pac set ups, too.

Sounds great!

I may have missed it - is someone working on a Solomons Islands terrain?

Suddenly I also want the P-39D/P-400 and the G4M Betty!

Sounds good...but isn't the Ki67 a bit high powered for the fighters it will be facing?

Perhaps, Raub, but isn't it about time the Japanese had it there way for a change?:p   Actually, I think the Ki67 will be okay in this context.  It's lower bombload is balanced by it's speed and defensive firepower (both of which are respectable).  I've been reading up on this theater, and the American's were mainly successful because they had time to climb to altitude and get above the Japanese aircraft.  Otherwise they had great difficulty catching the Japanese bombers.

yep the Oscar flew against Chennault's group, but more common was the little Nate, which I doubt will ever be seen in AH (prehistoric in nature):)

S!

Ammo is correct on both counts.

The land based opposition to the Allies in Burma was Japanese Army Aircraft.

So in early '42 that would be the Nate, and in later periods, it would be the Oscar.

The Zero was used in China prior to the attack on Pearl Harbour, but after that it was transferred East to face the U.S. in the Pacific Islands.  The Claude never fought in Burma at all as far as I know.

There were a few Carrier raids by the Japanese in the Indian Ocean which would have involved the Zero and Val.

As well, the British had Sea Hurricanes operating off Carriers as well as British Attack planes, for which the Dauntlas could stand in.

On the land, the British had Brewster Buffaloes and Hurricane IIA's, (the 12 .303 equipped Hurris) in the first half of '42.  In later '42 and '43, the Hurricane IIC replaced them.

Yeah, I had a brain-burp and wrote Claude instead of Nate.  I'll definitely set one area as a "British Sector."  As for the Zero and Val, their inclusion is purely for balance and variety.
