new pc help

running  a p3 1000, 256 ram with a rivatnt2...  and Xp

running aces high now... im getting pauses or glitches in gameplay and start up screen (can tell by moving mouse)

Anyone have anyclues?  

old system was a AMD athlon, 256, riva tnt... w98.

Is moving the mouse the only time that you see this? Check your net conection and see what it looks like.  Are you running any other programs in the background?

As suggested by Skurj in another thread about "stutters/pauses". Are you running Zone Alarm?

moving mouse in menu screens it jumps around... in game play, sound and planes skip and jump (like its warping across the screen). im connected via Dsl.


zone alarm, not really sure what that is, where can i check that?

Its your video card.

Try disabling the mip mapper and the pallette thing in AH vid setup and try it.

And get the latest drivers for that riva.

could also be the MBD.. if it has a VIA chipset, you'd better install the drivers for it.. or else nothing will work right ;)

If you have not installed Zone alarm, you are not running it (So forget that idea) :) It's a personal firewall.
