F6 and energy fighting!
« on: June 04, 2002, 10:30:28 PM »
I just started to fly the f6 and have a few kills in her.  Usually in furballs when the con was distracted.

I need tips on tactics with the f6 1v1 and 1v many.

Also any tips on e tactics in general will help. I know the concept but if there are any standard tactics or manuvers to try they would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I was a t&b junkie but now want to expand my abilities.

Generally, simply stay fast (Over 250) and fly it like a Jug that can turn a bit.  It's an energy fighter, so don't expect to enter a fight without an energy advantage if you want to win!  Now it's decent turning can save your bacon sometimes... but you really don't want to rely on that.

It has a very fast dive, with great accelleration early in the dive.  You can catch faster planes in a dive using it's great accelleration when pointing down.  It also has a pretty high terminal velocity and is tough... so you can often 0G dive out at insane speed to make an escape if you need to.  Just don't do it with a Jug or a Corsair hanging around because they'll dive with you.

Also... at merge's it's great to hide your E in speed in the Kitty.  When you are heading for an engagement, keep your speed up around 300 for maximum initial turn performance when you need it.  After that it's just a matter of knowing your performance vs. the other guy's, so you can choose your fight and force him to fight it.
