I heard a story at the Con that cracked me up regarding Goth/Vampire types.

Apparently there was an online sim out which focused on vampires and they were holding a convention in the same venue as, I think Warbirds were...or it may have been AH.

Anyway..these guys/girls were walking around in their "costumes" and some would have their arms crossed in front of them...some showing one finger..some showing up to 4.

The deal was that the arm crossing thing meant that they were "invisible" and the number of fingers showing represented the level of invisibilty attained by the person's on-line character.

Two WB or AH Con goers came across one of these bozos with his arms crossed in front of him and just as they came level with the goth one of them dropped his shoulder and ploughed into the guy sending him into the corridor wall and onto the floor.

The guy who did it apparently leaned over the vampire wanna-be and said "Sorry....didn't see you".

Arggh. Kill them all. Those goons give Goth such a bad name. (as if it didn't have one anyway)

My favourite trick with the 'vampire'types is just to punch them really hard in the face. They get upset when they bleed just like evryone else....

by the way, is that a Whitby photo 'Agirl'?

Wow, i'd forgotten Whitley Bay even existed, went there a couple of times when i was in Newcastle.

No, I was talking about Whitby, there's a Goth festival there twice a year, gets over a thousand people each time, which i'm pleased to note is about three times the number that turn up for the BNP's annual gathering.

umm, Ulverston...cough...lived in Kendal for a couple of years, now that's a very cultural part of the world up there. Yep, the Geordies may want to cede from the nation, but most folk in Westmoreland don't even know they're part of one :)

You could be right!  However, Ulverston is in Cumbria!  :D  Actually, I originally came from the Teesside area - born in Middlesbrough and lived in Stockton on Tees until we moved over here in 1979.  ;)

That's very disturbing.  

I'm not a Goth apologist, but what the hell is so different about a group of online players getting together in costume and playing out their personas than there is a bunch of drunken middle-aged farts waving their hands around and making airplane noises talking about their latest "sorties?"  One is just as make-believe as the other.

I've been to cons, us flight simmers are easily as subject to ridicule as anyone else, trust me!  Look at the photo above, that's proof positive!

That some of them would restort to violence against another online player of a different ilk is just sad....
