"But if I understand this right, the problem is on the other end( the bogey), not mine ?"

Yes.  Any person who is using a Linksys BEFSR41 can do this if they choose to or even by accident. And it seem some folks (Apache for one) without one have had it accidentally occur also.

hit sounds, then the wing falls off.... and all this while a squadmate was watching and assured me there was not bandits around.

You know we can sit here and guess at whats going on or we can try and test this to see what is happening.

You guys that are saying you are being shot down by "ghosts" do you have film? (gawd never thought I would say that)
Only reason I ask is a few days ago I was flying along in my A8 about 17,000.   I look around a lot, so much that I'm probably going to wear out my hat switch.   Anyway zooming along looking for badguys, when ping, ping, boom.  Never saw a plane, never got a kill message.  Weird.  Well I just happen to be running film.
Next day reviewed my film to see just where I got killed from,...a very high P47 that I missed above me, dropped down behind me and blam, I'm dead.   And the Kill Message?  it was there, just between all the text channels about 10 messages hit the text buffer at the same time and I was so startled when I got hit I never saw the kill message flash by.

Although I'm not discounting anyone's observations I would suggest filming your time online.   I run film almost everynight and I'm online usually about 2-3 hours everynight.   Later I can review it or delete it,  but at least I have something in case I see something weird.

Another thing,  if you want to complain about fine,  but if your interested in finding out what is going on I suggest a few of us get together in the Training Arena at some point in the future and test this.   I believe it would not be to diffcult to recreate the "ghosting" because I had the problem and fixed so for the purpose of testing I can reverse my fix.   Then we can see (or not see) just exactly what someone can and can't do while in the "packet limbo"

Has happened to me at least once a day for the last 3 weeks.

We had a similar stigma in Air Warrior. In some maps it depended on where you were and how many were there. The was actually place on the ETO Campaign map, close to france, where I could predict where a plane would disappear, sorta like the Burmuda Triangle.

I also had a problem with it on a different map running the Midway event. On this map it tended to be a radar or visible icon count thing. There was a setting in the code that set how many icons you can view. I *think* the default setting was 40. if there were more then 40 icons in your site some of them would be invisable.

I have NO idea how these terrains are made or what the coding looks like but it is my guess that it's in the terrain and NOT a connection problem. In AW the only people who could change this were those with CM powers.

It could also be Bug Abuse, but more then likely a bug period. I hardly doubt that many people would be cheating and no one else ever hear of the trick. It's like being a bank robber, you always have to tell someone of your findings.

Connection>?? could be wrong but my guess is no.

I managed to stop the plane before liftoff.
This was at a friendly field, 100% up, no cons on radar, and several friendly planes lifting off.
No one saw any con attacking me.
I replane and take a new lancaster, just after takeoff, I get pinged again, lots of pings, taking out 2 of my fuels, for the next 5 min I get a lots of pings, without anyone seeing anything that could be a possible enemy.
Even a squadmate joins me in the flight with a C47, when we fly wingtip to wingtip I still get hit a lot, even get a pilot wounded.
While my squadmate still see no con.

This ghost plane pinged me for about 15 min in 3 flights, and doing alot of harm.
The ping sounded like .303 or smaller ammo (if there is such in here)

What might it have been?
On my 4 tour it was gone, and never came back.
(Perhaps that Exorsism my squadmate held, drowe the poltergeist away;))

we caught somebody doing this have about 8 films of it form different pilots of the same instnace.  They were exploiting it for a base capture.  HTC knows about it.

Could this explain my 26's and 17's spontaneously combusting lately?

I know in th TOD I NEVER saw any NME planes. Just my flight blowing up all around me. I was soon to follow.

But lately, I've noticed, (And I posted on this) that my Buffs pop like balloons, where they used to be quite durable. (Last tour for example).

Last night, for example, I was flying a 17 and got jumped by a 51. I swear this guy fired one burst of cannon fire and I was back in the tower! No A/C breakup. No crashing to earth. Just dead.

Same thing happened while I was driving a panzer. My guess on that one was a lucky bomb hit, though.

I filmed something really weird just now. A con with the icon "  G-S "   take a look at it in this film.  Is it lag,my pc going screwy,or the problem creating the ghost plane? Here's the link to it.. sorry film is a bit large but the con shows up instantly.

As I understand it, G-S is a gunner who has bailed.  (Usually can only se them when they bail.)

Edit:  I looked at your film and I have no explanation for why you would see one doing that. Did your friend see it?  Maybe it was a problem with your system being updated, saw the gunner but not the bomber?
