A few observations:

1.  Loved the commentator who, when commenting on the expectation that England wouldn't get through the group of death, stated that "England has been written off more times than the national debt of Mexico!"

2.  Watched it with a Danish friend, which was great because not only did I get to taunt him...but I got to do so in front of his girlfriend (who was sporting a Danish shirt when I arrived).  It just made my Saturday morning even sweeter.

3.  England played a great first half, but then resorted back to their style of "kick it upfield and hope for the best" play.  While it tires their opponents it is not fun to watch.

4.  Final possesion percentage - England 37% Denmark 63%  They better improve on that if they want to beat Belgium or Brazil!

5.  The behaviour of the English fans was fantastic...watched them carrying Japanese kids around while dancing in the aisles (no way I would let an English fan carry my kid btw!)...great atmosphere, despite the rain.

I wonder if the distance and costs kept away the riff-raff?

6.  The drunk chick they kept focusing on in the audience was really hot!

Hope you insisted your friends girlfriend removed the offending shirt. ;)

Even the weather was British.

The second half performance was lacking a bit but I would think that at 3 - 0  they thought they had better conserve there energy for the quarter finals.

3-0 at half time, and Sven basically rested his players for the QF.

Although the Danes had more possession, England could have stepped up a gear at any point in the second half. But there was no need and the Danes managed maybe 2 decent chances.

It was a good solid performance. :)

been on bilbao-madrid-bilbao trip, as all saturdays ,so I haven't seen the match.

For what I heard on radio, the danish GK-er scored on own goal in the 1-0, and the 2-0 and 3-0 were astronomic blunders by him too.
Radio reporters also said England didn't play good soccer, but neither did Denmark. They said england played overall better, but that a 3-0 is way overkill.

I don't have an opinion, I still haven't seen even the goals, much less the whole match. That is what I've heard so far on radio :)

First goal was probably an own goal, although it could be argued it was a prolonged deflection :).

The keeper didn't stand much chance for the second goal. Not against Owen, with time and space just a few yards from goal.

Third goal was a powerful shot from outside the D. Keeper should have got a hand to it, but it did bounce just before him I think and it went under him as he dived at full stretch.

Still, football is about making the other side make mistakes. Pressurise their weaknesses and play to your strengths - that's what wins matches.

hummmmm.........but a good keeper can prevent that ...one who scores on his own goal is an extra asset for the other team, heheh :)

I don't want to tease you ,guys ... I was asked to put my report (lol ;)), and I simply wrote what I heard on radio.

I have to see that match,at least the goals, to give a true opinion by myself  :).

England played well today, bit lacking in the second half but still enough to keep the 3 goal lead although it was worrying the way Denmark broke through a few times and perhaps does not bode well for later on in the tournament. I just can't understand why Erikson sticks by Heskey! I know he scored today but that was one good performance out of how many?? (and that's coming from a Liverpool fan!)

I tipped Spain to win the world cup early on and their last few performances have shown it will take a team with quite some class to stop them...this could be Spain's year with so many of the favourites going out early on. That does leave me in a quandry tommorow though as I'd realyl like to see Ireland do well especially after the trouble they had with that arogant stunninghunk Roy Keane.

Well, when Ericsson took over England, the team was last in the qualifying group. Now it is in the quarter-finals. Heskey has been in the starting 11 in all these games.

Perhaps he knows what he's doing?
