Speaking of 3rd world air forces using WW2 fighter planes,  I just saw a picture of a Dominican Republic air force base from the 80s and they had a line of P-51s on their ramp.  I wonder what happened to those planes, if they were sold to collectors after they were retired or what.   Those must surely have been the last WW2 planes still in operational use by any air force (except the C-47 of course which is STILL in use by at least 4 or 5 air forces, including some rather modern ones).
