Differing opinions...
« on: June 22, 2002, 12:40:43 PM »
Wow...I see the same stuff here than what I do in other forums when it concerns the "competition", and frankly I like it. It's amusing to watch these kinds of things.

My brother constantly visits a message board where they discuss the three major game consoles. (XBox, Gamecube, and PS2). In these forums, there's a section called "the War Room" where posters can defend their system.

I tell you what, there are threads there that can put even the hottest AH flamefest to shame. It seems that if someone has an opinion no one agrees with, then they consider everyone else a moron. While this kind of thing is rather immature and stupid, I find it amusing the lengths people go to tell the world why there product is the best. Since the boards themselves are not owned by any one company, it is an un-biased fourum.

I think that perhaps HTC should also incorporate something like a "War Room", where die hard fans can fight over who's game is better. This would cut down on the advertising threads elsewhere, and also provide some of us with some highly amusing slugfests.

Bring your popcorn, I got the front row...;)

If it simply degenerates to name-calling, what's the point?

Cant really say that any one is better than the other...cause they are all different. They all lack something that one of the others does well so it makes a nice change to play each...so you dont get sick of any. make sense?
I would'nt tell my 3 year old "dont play with the Powerpuff girls and Arthur..THEY SUCK!"  but its ok to play with Elmo and Big Bird cause THEY RULE!"  She'd think I was nuts. Instead she gets to have fun with all of em.  Makes you think kids are smarter than "adults" sometimes ..does'nt it. ;)

Don't ask me...seems that way. The point is that it generates some really good laughs as people come up with the most assinine things to say about the other guy.

I dunno...I guess that's just my sense of humor...

their ability to simplify the situation by choosing 'all of the above' just makes me think they got someone else paying the bills.

they days of me being able to say "I'll take them all, thanks" have long since ....... um, no wait, that was back in 1900 and never.

most of us have to choose between one or another option on any subject and watching/listning to 2 guys argue it out combined with a little personal homework is one of the best ways to get an informed opinion of your own

QOUTE--"their ability to simplify the situation by choosing 'all of the above' just makes me think they got someone else paying the bills. "

If I take this vague statement to mean that I have someone else paying the bills..then your very wrong .And if that is indeed the insinuation made here...well ..its no better than the immature insults which are subject partialy to this thread. All of these sims cost piddlin money per month. The arguement that "I cant afford this or that " per month is crap when it is written on a message board sitting in front of a system capable of running any of them.

If this is not what you mean, then just retract the above.

Actually if you look at my response it says ‘they’ (as in children) not ‘you’ (as in you).

If you look at your post that I pulled the quote I commented on from, you will find that you had just said how your 3 year old was able to enjoy all the toys you laid at her feet and didn't see the need to choose one as better.

My comment was meant to explain (and as I reread my post my intent still seems fairly clear) how it’s great how kids can enjoy everything without having to choose.   But for those of us who pay our own way the option to choose 'all of the above' for our choice of games (or game platforms, cars, whatever) is simply not an option.

So if I mis-understood your original post and your 3-year-old is indeed paying her own way I do apologize and retract my statement.

Personally my kids have me paying their way and they choose ‘all of the above’ whenever I’d let them. Which is never.

heheh  I can certainly relate to that. :)

Simply a misunderstanding on my part.
