AH C.205, 109G6, 109G2 - All DB605s?
« on: June 21, 2002, 03:33:10 PM »
Title says it all - in AH, are all three of these guys using the same DB605 engine?

Anyone know?

Noticed when flying I was flying a  C.205 with Raubvogel while he was in a 109G2 that I had a higher IA speed at alt-x, but that he climbed more quickly, though falling behind me...  the end result leveling at 20K seemed to be that we reached the same point in the air at around the same time (as in I hit 20K and leveled out around the same time as when he reached my position after hitting 20K a bit earlier and leveling.)

Also, if they are using the same engine, is the 106 gallon fuel capacity of the G6 and G2 with a full drop tank?  If not, and that is the internal only fuel capacity of the 109s, why does the 205, a considerably heavier aircraft, have such better gas mileage?

Just curious, and stuck at work with no books...

Never mind, the charts are different scales...

EDIT 2: Which is to say, never mind my reference to the AH charts in this original post, which is gone now, the climb charts for the 205 and G2 were in different scales of altitude for some reason.  Thought I'd clarify - I still am curious about the stuff in my first post.

Yep, DB605A on all three of them, AFAIK.
