Americans ARE stupid.  That's probably the real reason behind the change, so the less intelligent among us can tell the difference between the bills by thuh purty colors!

Read the article, it cites tourists (e.g. foreigners) being unable to differentiate between the bills as the primary catalyst for the change.

Thrawn, isn't it true that the majority of Canadians can not even tell you who the people pictured on their money are?

I guess it would depend on the age group being questioned.

Total majority though, I doubt it.

Canadian bills though have been changed twice in my life time though.  We incorporate technological changes to keep it difficult to counterfit.

I once heard that the average Canadian was more familiar with US geography then the average American was though. :D

If we lined up and shot counterfeiters, we wouldn't have to worry about new inks and such.:D

Bah, learn to make some REALLY decorative bills & coins.

take a look:

http://www.banrep.gov.co/emision/50000/50000re4.htm

Click on the denominations and select "ANVERSO Y REVERSO" to see the front/back of our bills.

The scans they have there are quite bad in quality actually, the real bills are very crisp and colorfull.

Probe a la "web site" Tac.  El diseno de los grabados es muy hermoso.  Gracias por el "link".  Saludos.

No toejam.  I said the "real" reason, not the reason stated in the article.
