Idea to improve even more the film viewer :)
« on: June 21, 2002, 10:39:37 AM »
Heya all

I've been toying around with the film editor for the first time since it was implemented, and is a nice piece of art!. Very useful and intuitive to use, hadn't really looked at it before and I'm pretty impressed.

Now there are a couple of ideas I think would be neat to see in the viewer...

For instance, there is the option to turn trails and icons off while viewing the film in the filmer...how about another button like "show damage ON/OFF"?. That would be very helpful when reviewing films :).

Another idea would be being able to change camera from your own plane to another one so you can see the fight from his point of view, also would be very valuable when reviewing tactics used by other pilots in their films.

Finally ,yet another idea...in the window present in the film viewer you can see the model, speed, and ID of the planes nearby...it would be also neat to see how much Gs are pulling at a given moment.

Of course this is just some what-if stuff I would like to see in the viewer program :). I don't know how hard would be to implement that...so maybe I'm talking about something real complicated here hehehe :)

Any other ideas? :)

When you append the films, at each connection point, it always goes through the engine start up. Be nice to lose that feature.

yup, would be nice to have the engine already running at film start (if it was running in the game at that point :))

This is already enabled, just double click the pilot's name in the right window and you are in.

Thanks Mr Hanky :). Until today I wasn't really interested in the film viewer, each time I recorded a film I'd use the in-game viewer only, But I've given it a try today and I found it really neat.

So bassically I wasn't aware of the existance of that forum. Thanks  :)

I would love to see operational guages in other aircraft when you jump into them. It's nice to be able to jump into another plane, but I want to jump into the pilots head as well.

Hi RRAM,
One point worth mentioning about jumping to another plane......

What you see is not what the other pilot sees, it is all based on your front end,. If you can arrange a fight where you both film it and review both films. The other pilots view in his film is a little (Sometimes a lot) different to the view from his plane when viewed from your film. (Your view of his/her plane is always behind their real position on their front end because of the time the packets take to update each other computers). So while it can be a great training aid for demonstrating manouvers it is unreliable if you are more interested in "How the hell did he make that shot"
