Download and install the game...then play H2H 'till you're ready to join the MA.

H2H is against up to 7 other players...of varying skill, much better than "intelligent" AI in my opinion. Or post here and I'm sure some of the other players would go H2H with you sometime.

And it's free   :)

no, there aren't any AI bots to fight against to speak of, just the handful that mindlessly circle your airfield offline.  If you're worried about getting your moneys worth a good course of action may be to go ahead and subscribe and go to the Main Arena and politely ask on Channel 1 (the grey text channel and public) if their are any trainers on or any one who wouldn't mind going to the Training Arena (TA) with you.  If you can't find anyone and you see me online give me a holler, if I see it ( I somtimes squelch chnl 1) I'll try and help you out even though I don't think I'm very good at it. ;)   Spend some time with a trainer in the TA till you get a feel for things then I would suggest giving the MA a try before you're 2 week trial is up to at least see if this is somthing that you're going to enjoy enough to spend $15 a month on.  Then if you don't feel your good enough yet after 2 weeks play some Head to Head games for free with up to 7 other people till you feel like you're ready to battle the Main Arena hordes.  :D

Keep your chin up, don't get discouraged, the compitition is cut throat sometimes and you're probably gonna die a lot, all you can do it try and learn from your mistakes and make some friends, life is a lot more fun in AH when you have someone to pal around with.  Best of luck to ya :D

H2H is always free . some of the rooms are run by kids and they dont really try to learn (its a big vulchfest in other words )...
but there are plenty of rooms there that have really great players in them, just ask around and ussually one of the guys will help you . if they dont just tell me and ill kick their arse's !!!

I also run "Roscoroo's War "as a h2h room if u see it jump on in ... (providing its not full like always)

H2H rooms are a great place to learn and prepare for the chaos of the main , or for slow connections that lags bad in the main ussually fly alot better in h2h land .

Hi richyaw,
Welcome aboard :) Just a point on the free 2 weeks. As far as I know as soon as you begin to use AH online (Even in H2H) your 2 free weeks start running. (Someone shout up if I'm wrong) :) So be sure to put in at least some air time in some of the pay to play arenas.

Second.... Contact a trainer, these guys really know there stuff (Just post in this forum, I'm sure one will reply) and will have you up and running in no time.

Third.... Don't forget to download the help files (Follow the "Help" link from the main page). Although not dealing with Air Combat they will answer most "What key do I press for...." and "What do I need to kill to allow capture of a field" type questions

Cyas up there

Your 2 weeks only start running when you log into an arena that is usually pay2play (ie all except H2H).

My understanding, and I could be wrong, about the H2H is this:
You need an account to do anything other than offline. You get the account and can fly all arenas including H2H. After your free period is over you loose the pay arenas but have the ability to use the free H2H arenas. You do need a cpid to enter H2H and to get that you need the account.

I would fly offline before account activation to familiarize yourself with the flight model. I came over from AW3 and that was probably the biggest adaptation 'we' had to make. It also gives you a way to test certain things, as far as commands and different planes go.

Now I'm two cents broker,

I think I'm with Fuze on this one, I've read enough instances on the boards to think that as soon as you create an account even if you only enter H2H your 2 free weeks begin.

I tried to find out in another post sometime ago for someone else but never got a definitive reply either way from HTC
