If you wanna post whines about numbers and being outnumbered, at least qualify your data by telling what the situation in the arena at the time was.  To just simply come in here and post this withouth the qualifier that the reset was imminent is just moronic.

sling's comments are what i referred to when i said "i didn't know."

as far as needing a "clue."  if you say so.

Whine?

Maybe but for a good reason.
People play these games because they like 'em. You can be sure there are more frustrated players who just keep their mouths shut and hope situation changes someday.
When they run out of patience they have two possibilities: Change country or leave game.

First option is bad for gameplay and second one is bad for HTC. Which one you like more ?

You're right leviathn,  but you just keep responding to them anyway and telling us all how inane it is and how you are sick of seeing it...so, who's whining about what?  The real question is, does it really matter?  is it really that important in life to worry about who is whining about what and then try to insert your own brand of how things should be?

I don't regularly come in here and whine about numbers...but ever now and again I get the urge to be antagonistic for no other reason than to be....well, antagonistic.

Frankly, I could care less about the numbers.  If my country is being overwhelmed and I get frustrated, I just log off.

I only come in here and whine about those whining about the whiners, because it just makes you guys whine all the more.

It matters to me because it not only clutters up the forums, but it also pervades Channel 1.  I don't want to hear some moron grousing about people hopping sides, or how unfair the numbers are.  You won't hear people posting things like "I think the numbers are fair and balanced," nor will you hear people attack others for flying in a fair and balanced fashion, because those who believe that are already content.  In that sense, whining about numbers takes on a far more antagonist tone than the counter to it.

The fact is also that very few good ideas have been offered to "fix" this supposed problem, so we have whining for its own sake.

I wish I had a nickel for every time someone used this cliched old analogy to inaccurately describe something.  When I start abusing people on Channel 1 for flying AH in the manner of their choosing, for whichever side they prefer, regardless of the numbers, then we'll talk.  Until then, numbers whining shares the primary characteristic of most proactive whines... it cares what I'm doing with my $15, and it wants to change things.

Pointing this out is hardly "whining about whining," the classic comeback of the unclever troll or the proactive whiner without merits to his own argument.

So what about the changes HTC makes?  Not trying to fan any flames here (or single you out Lev) but I don't get why it's so bad for people to make a suggestion about balancing the arena, or perking planes or WHATEVER.  I've never seen HTC make even a passing comment on trying to balance the arena's... therefore I don't think it's worth getting upset about.

We have folks from all time zones participating in Aces High.  Check the MA arena around 8am CST [GMT-6, maybe 2 pm there?] and you'll see lots of Europeans and Asians.  It is a rare morning when the Bishops are outnumbered.  Therefore, anyone who regularly flies at this time will feel there are too many Bishop.

Except for a two week period, the Bishop have been consistently outnumbered around 8 pm CST for the past 3 months.  Most of the time, Knights have more than either Bishop or Rook and occasionally will match the Bishop and Rook numbers. Occasionally, Rook numbers will exceed Knight numbers.

We are all participating in an on-line war game.  Targets are good!  If you are Bishop and see: 70 Bishop, 140 Knights, 120 Rooks, that means the Bishops got lucky!  We have 260 guys to shoot at. while the Knights and Rooks will only have 70.  Of course, the outnumbered side (be it bish, rook or nit) will be jumped on by the other two in an attempt to reset the map.

I honestly believe that anyone who complains about numbers should take up croquet instead of Aces High.  Think of the advantages of croquet:  1) You get big balls to use and 2) you can whack your opponent over the head with a mallet. :)

Hi airhap, judging by your 7 posts, I guess you haven't flown Aces High that long.

I myself am also a newbie with about two months of online flying under my belt.

I fly for Knights at Euro Times and usually experience the same 101 Bishops, 49 Knights and 51 Rooks deal night after night.

Before I put up my own suggestions to fix the unbalancing, I'd like to thank the seasoned "1000+ posts" guys on this forum for simply calling airhap a whiner and leaving it at that.

That really helped...

Now for my suggestions:

1.) Those who log on to Aces High for the first time, are put into the team with the fewest numbers at that time.

2.) When you log on, you will be asked to join the team with the fewest numbers. Should you agree to do so, you will recieve some sort of reward (perk points, or a free ride in a perk plane etc).

Those are things HTC can do, now on to something that is way harder...

Things YOU can do:

1.) If your Country constantly has the numbers advantage when you log on (time-zone specific), simply switch sides to the team with the fewest numbers.
Note: concerning "friends" and the "I fly for country X because I've always flown for them/the others suck" argument
a.) all countries are the same
b.) you'll find new friends in any country
c.) ask your friends to come along with you and help change the imbalance together

2.) Squads: Analyze the Arena-numbers when your squad, or most of them, usually fly - if your squad is on the team which has the numbers more often than not when online - switch sides.

3.) Countries: if your combined numbers are equal/lower than those of the third country stop fightig each other and fight the other country together.
