Ki.61 armament choices
« on: June 27, 2002, 07:08:36 AM »
Selecting different armament choices as long been possible in the Me109 and Fw190 series - e.g. choosing either 20mm or 30mm nose cannon for the 109G, or carrying 2 or 4 20mm in the 190.

Would it be possible to have armament choices similar to this for the Ki.61?   The 20mm nose guns have a very small clip, and it would be nice to be able to try the wing-mounted 20 mm with nose 12.7 machine guns, or the 4x12.7 machine gun version.
I'm guessing the wing-mounted cannon would have a larger ammo load than the nose-mounted ones, but impose a rollrate penalty on the aircraft's performance.   Likewise, the 4x12.7 MG version should have a slightly better climbrate and max speed than the KAI1c.

Thank you, most grateful I would be for this modification.

I guess the first question would be whether these loadouts were available in real life?

That's what I ever thought.

It would be more preferable that HTC releases more Ki-61 variants as new plane.

BTW Ki-61-I-KAIc didn't change weapons to other guns.

Hmm.   I was aware the different armament arrangements were available on different marks of the Ki.61, but assumed this was
true for the Me109 and FW190 as well.

It sounds like the varying armament configurations were available
within the same mark of the German a/c but not within the same mark of Japanese a/c?

Of course, the best solution is to handle it as it was done in real life.

Thanks guys!
