I went from an MS twisty stick to the X45...I love all the programmable buttons.  And, I seem to be the exception...the CD drivers that came with the stick worked fabulously with Windows 2000 Pro.

Only gripe, rather stiff stick, squeaky....doesnt seem to like to center but a few of the guys mentioned tossing some graphite down there, which I just havent gotten to yet.  As I said, its still a new stick to me (2 months).

For $80, you can't go wrong.

I wore my x45 out in 6 months.  The handle is quite loose on the rod its attached to, and no tightening of the screws helps.

While I had it, and before it wore out, it was pretty much same as x36, and worked fine.

Yes you can , I use alot of directx commands so that I can have muiti ah stick sets also . But my mode 2 on throttle is set up for gv , moving head around , up and down etc . The mode three is for bombers .

The only bad thing is that you only get four really reachable buttons on the Microsoft stick but I got my setup with most everything I had before , just had to use my head a little more ,

The good thing is the Microsoft hats don't wear out , plus the feel as I stated before is great , the center is the sweatest spot , quite the oppisite of the couger that I sent back to Amazon .

AKSWulfe : Do u make use of "cycle" actions in the SGE software ? This helps some for loss of buttons commands on the joystick .

I got to tell you's all , you'll throw rocks at your x and y control after you try a ffb2 with Hitech's great force feed back programing .

I used a siatek cyborg stick with a X36 throttle btwn my first X45 and 2nd one. Worked very well but missed the 2nd hat the X stick has ( use it for zoom - on/off, in/out)

tried the ms ffb with the throttle when the 2nd X36 wore out b4 I got the 1st X45. it was different but i didnt fly as well with it and the effects werent what I thought they'd be so I took it back.

Hmmm, so if I am used to the feel of the X36, and really like it... then the X45 would be a better choice for me?

Maybe pick 'em both up, try out the MS FFB and take it back if it ain't up to par.

I found the ffb didnt have enough program options - my bet is you'll end up with the X45 :)

Get it before Sunday from CompUSA and you'll save $10 - the cost of the year in store replacement warranty. I suggest you get that, just in case. Though not as long as Best Buys replacement warranty which is 2 years for $10, much more convenient. Best Buys requires you to pack up your stick, ship it to them (they do send you postage) then wait for them to mail you a gift certificate which you then go and pick up the replacement. 3 to 4 week turn around best. CompUSA is walk in with old broke one, walk out with new one.

I've got an x-36 j/s and throttle you can have Rip if you pay the S/H....  It worked last time I used it..... (couple of years ago).  Its just sitting in my closet taking up space... :D  Lemme know

rudder pedals with X45?

I just got an X45 to replace my MS FFB that was wigging out on me. I really like the stick and throttle but the rocker rudder drives me insane. Can pedals be used with the X45? I seem to recall hearing that they can't. Anyone know for sure? Any suggestions on a set of pedals?
