The diagonal red lines on the Union flag represent all of the Channel Islands.  When the Channel Islands were lost in the Napoleonic wars the red diagonal lines were removed until the isles were recaptured.

Because, apparently, all of your knowledge about lesbians comes from porno movies.

Surely you can find a better sig line than that, can't you?  What other "mind boggling facts of life" do you have for us?   :D

my surname is English, my favorite beer is English (Newcastle), and I follow the English Premiership (Newcastle's on top!) and cheer for the English national team!   ;)  I'd move to England, but then it'd be too hard to get back for my FSU home games.   :D

LOL!  The Union Flag is a combination of the English, Irish and Scottish Flags - the Scottish Flag is in the background (white diagonal cross on blue background).  The white diagonal cross is overlaid with the red diagonal cross of the Irish Flag (red diagonal cross on white background) with the white diagonal cross doubling as the white background for the red diagonal cross.  This combination is then overlaid with the red vertical cross of the English Flag (English vertical cross on white background) with only part of the white background showing along the edges of the cross.  Hope this makes sense... for more info see: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/gb.html#hist

I'm curious. How do the Brits feel about us Yanks?

Honestly. This isn't a "my country is better than yours" post.

From a purely educational standpoint, I would like to know what the people of the UK think of their bastard child, the USA.

PS. Yep, you still got the Faulklands. You worry about them, we'll handle the rest of the world.  :D

oh come on, Muck.  It's always my XXX is better than your XXX.   ;) Doesn't matter if it's country, favorite AH plane, arena, TnB vs BnZ, or hell, even favorite song or porn star.  Every group argues about what's better.  Even Trekkies get to argue...  Kirk could take Picard!  Scientists...  Einstein was much smarter than Curie!  etc, etc, etc.   :D
