"An Englishman...who thinks Americans are hypocritical...."

Why does America have terrorism enshrined and protected in it's constitution?

Or are you guys still saying it's there to protect you from the Queen of England?

Sorry but I've ahd enough of this crap!

British SAS vrs American seals, hmmmmmmmmm, like to see the seals train like the SAS.  I would also like to see the seals do 85 KM (which is about 50 miles) in 8 hours WITH 209lbs bergens on their back.

It was over 200 iraqis killed.

Last I heard of the BRILLIANT US ARMED FORCES was that they manage to destory another one of their Tank platoons, smart? yeah ok!

Also you talk about the yanks being TOP SNOTCH when it comes to war, well for some reason, one your your TOP NOTCH pilots decided to blow up on of our tank platoons, for some reason they didn't notice the big white crosses marked on the tanks, which indicated that their were allies.

So the the msot allied tank losses in the gulf war was from US fire.  Funny that isn't it?

Also funny when we are bombing Bosina in 98 that the US manage to BOMB a Chinese embassy!!!!!

Don't tell me the Brits stink, all the yanks have is technology and numbers.

French?  that the biggest insult you can give the brit.

Any Brit that likes the yanks more than there own, go become a U.S citizen then and disregard your rights as a brit because I can tell you this, this brit doesn't want anything to do with you and if yoou needed help, don't look my way.

Seriosuly pissed off Kit

In the world of covert operations, the SAS seem to be Media-Hounds.

With the US forces, you probably only know about the times things went very poorly.

BTW, I think you are right about the SAS and others British units training forces all over the world including the USA.  So maybe they really are the best.  I'm in no position to know.

All I know about the British, is that when their Prime Minister says he sends their sympathy, and support.  He is not talking about sending a condolence card.  He is sending some of the finest troops in the world.

Oh OK, So just cos I happen to think the US military is the best in the world and is far better than the British army, then that doesn't make me British anymore ? So does that mean if I like BMW or Mercedes over a crappy Rover it makes me German? Sorry, I'm entitled to my own preferences!

I read a lot and watch documentaries on the military cos it's one of my hobbies. For your information, the US navy SEALS have the toughest training of any military combat unit. It was on the Discovery Channel. The Royal Marines have the longest which lasts 5 weeks. The Seals a bit less but inbetween they have something called "hell week" where they train non stop for 7 whole days without sleep. Hence the toughest training in the world.

Difference between SEALS and SAS is generally training. SAS train more to fight individualy or a very small team. I have seen the SEALs and they seem more soldier like and less mecenary to me. I prefer the SEALS, sorry.

Who was it that said "what have the SEALS done"?
Anyone ever read during Operation: Restore Hope in Somalia when a platoon of SEALS with 150 Rangers when they went in to arrest that Warlord and they were attacked by thousands of armed guerillas? Well, there were less than 200 of them. I think 13 Americans died. They weren't sure how many they killed, but the red cross had to go in and help with the dead and wounded because they estimated that the Rangers and SEALS had managed to kill over a thousand guerillas and wounded over 3000. How about that for a ratio?
Now the figure in Irag with the SAS doesn;t sound so impressive, does it?

Another thing I want to make clear is that who said the Americans are only good at hitting friendlies? How about you read up a bit on the Falkland war and see how many British soldiers died due to friendly mortar fire during the invasion.

As for history, the US army is still way in front of us, cos:

They were beaten by a bunch of rice farmers in sandles.

But we were beaten by a bunch of miners in South Africa. A bunch of zulu warriors and we were beaten by a bunch of farmers (americans) and a bunch of goat herders (Afghanis).

The Suez crisis in the 50's was when Britain lost it's superpower status after they blockaded it with France and the US sent a ship full of marines. The British and French forces withdrew with soiled underwear.

I've seen the Tornado up close. Actually, I wont go into detail, but this idiot pilot blew down my tent 5 times with his bloody crappy Tornado. In the era of standoff missiles and PGMs (precision guided munitions), the Tornado has become OBSELETE. What's the point of going in low and fast when you can launch a missile from a hundred nautical miles away.

THE FINAL CONCLUSION:

Britain has a defensive army and even the yank national guard would kick our arse.

My opinion....   :p

some comparisons:

Tanks:

M1 Abrams vs Challenger 2

Abrams wins because the specifications are better, a Challenger 2 flipped over the other month (how a 60 ton tank can flip is anyones guess) amd the Abrams is battle proven.

Choppers:

Apache vs Lynx

haha..Apache is GOOD...lynx is a toy helicopter.

Ships:

Nimitz class carrier vs Crappy HMS Crappythingimajigwhatever

F14-F18 vs rubbish sub-sonic crappy Harrier...need I say more?

Special Forces:

SAS (100 men) SBS (50 men?) v SEALS (2000) DELTA FORCE (1000) 10th Mountain (300) and the other secret units.

Anyone ever watch the embassy seige footage in London in the 80's when the SAS stormed the Lybian embassy? Let's see...apart from the terrorists inside knowing that the SAS were on the roof (0 points for stealth) when they abseiled down, one SAS mans rope caught fire. The professionals?

It's easy to compare the DELTA force raids in Beirut with a flipping embassy in your own country when you ignore the facts. Tell me one mission apart from the embassy which was outside the UK in which they succeeded?

Subs:

Trident v Los Angeles and Seawolf

Well, UK only have boomers...wheres our attack subs???

Heavy bombers...

nothing v b-52, b1, b2

Stealth planes

F117 and b2 v nothing

i could go on until tomorrow...so tell me know...who has the best military?

p.s. where's our top gun school? oh yeah. we dont have fighters.  :D
