Please, set up an option to hide the bitmap map on the clipboard, or let us to edit it so we can reduce it to land/sea 2 colours or whatever desired. No way to see anything clearly, no way to locate field 218 or whichever other one.

Give us an option to center the map on the desired field entered with a search edit box or to center the map on the desired player nick.

Now it is a total mess.

A highlight field XXX option would be good for the times you ask where your squaddies are fighting only to get the reply "over enemy field 201". You cant .move to it and its a real squeak trying to scan that map and find a specific field.

Both of the things you are requesting allready exist . You can hide the map by leaving the roster open on the clipboard. By clicking on the map you can pan around and zoom in on whatever part of the map you wish .

You would be atonished with my all black map, only base possitions, and, perhaps, a dark grey for the sea, the rest is just eyecandy messing up the real info.

This is an attempt at constructive criticism and not a whine.
• My first impressions on this "pizza map" is sensory overload. Yes, we needed a bigger map to spread us out more. But to me this is way to much. Mindanao had 75 bases, Baltic 69, NDISLES 63 bases .. the new map has 255 bases. That is a 240% increase.

I think a 100% increase to like 150 bases would have been better or for me at least an easier chunk to digest. Right now I simply feel losted and there are so many bases that it is very hard to take all the information in.

  • Concerning countries being broken up into 3 different non-adjacent sectors; It might grow on me but right now I don't care for it. To me it fragments the sense of country and unity. Instead of waging war on 2 fronts now there are a possible 9 fronts to wage war on. Plus if you and your country men do well on one of your three chunks of the map it really does not affect the other chunks. Unless you link up the chunks .. which looks like it will take a very serious effort to do.

Even on the fantasy maps of NDISLES you had a sense of this is yor territory and you are defending it or trying to knock out your opponent. The setup of this map and it sheer size has really taken away from that for me.
Maybe the map will grow on me but personally it just really turned me off of the MA. I like the other new features in 1.10 so far but the map seems fragmented and too much.

The terrain is very nice and I will say the may does make sure the countries are balanced, does encourage furballing, but I think it might have swung too far in one direction.

Just my personal opinion.

My, my...aren't we the touchy little AK today...

Suffice it to say that I am not alone in my dislike
for this map. I find few, if any, redeeming qualities
in this terrain...we'd be better served by just a
good cut and paste of existing terrains into one
larger one, if largeness is what is desired.

And it doesn't take "genius" to design a decent
terrain. Just time, and a resonable immagination
which is one thing I find lacking in the seemingly
endless browness of it all with nothing but unrealistic
canyons to break up the monotony...

I also think the map is just too much. I do appreciate all the hard work that the AK's put into this map (I'm not sure who lead the team or if it was an individual's personal work). I do not intend to insult anyone's contribution to the game, but...
Points I find least likable about the map:
1 - terrain topography. reminds me more of sci-fi artwork of the canals on mars than any terrain I've seen in person or in pictures on our own planet.
2 - far far too many bases - in the clip board view of the map all the base icons overlap so identifying individual fields is too difficult. having to zoom in and make 2 or 3 jumps to get to an airfield I want to fly from is a bit much.
3 - terrain ground altitudes. The map design is weighted far too heavily towards those aircraft that perform their best at altitudes above 15000ft.
re: "if they don't like this map let em design their own" or words to that affect. In the process, who do I send the preliminary workup too for the possible use of my map in the MA (eta on the beta of it 3weeks to a month)?

My apologies if I hurt anyone's feelings - it wasn't intended.

Cheers

I'd give it a bit more time to be honest.  I personally love the new map...

I did HATE Lake Uterus when I first started playing, but it kinda grew on me.  I think the same will happen with this one for a lot of people.

Stop complaining about 'unrealistic canyons' and start flying in them!  They are SOOOOO FUN to fight in.

you people are going to have to give grid pos for the bases , you can't just say "field 213" nobody knows where it is.

you will have to say "field 213 grid 13-9 " or what ever

If you want to find your squadies, go to roster on the clipboard, click on the squad header, scroll down to where one of your squadies name is, hilight it, and click the "goto" button.  THat will at least take you to where they took off from.

AKWabbit, my point has no relation at all with your map and, of course, is not directed to you. I downloaded the editor and were unable to find a way to load or modity the clipboard bitmap of the pizza map.

My issue is directed to HiTech. The pizza map is just a new one with a lot of bases, but there will be more maps with similar field quantity and size. The fact is that the clipboard map need to keep track of too much information, and the bitmap below that information is messing up all with its colours. All I'm asking for is the ability to set that clipboard bitmap to greyscale or two colour scale for land and sea (heights are provided with the field icons), or even edit it.
