Shootout at LAX
« Reply #15 on: July 05, 2002, 10:03:32 AM »
I was in Terminal 7 waiting for my brother to arrive when we saw the response.  Many, many police cars going very fast in the wrong direction on the LAX loop was interesting to watch.  I think the most stressful part of it was that we didn't know what was going on at the time, and that my brother's plane was minutes from landing.  We were hoping (as we saw several large fire trucks go by) that nothing was wrong with his plane.  He landed just fine, maybe 15 or so minutes after the shooting.

It took LA news choppers all of another ten minutes to swarm overhead.

We didn't find out what actually happened until we got home.

Terminal 7 is not the international terminal, but it was still probably the closest I've ever been to an international class incident.

I guess "TERRORISM" headlines sell better

Don Henley says it well in "Dirty Laundry"

Bingo Eagler. We white anglo saxons have got it better. We can shoot up an entire high school without someone yelling "terrorist."

I noticed that from the news .. isn't there restrictions on them too?

Seems easy for a nutbag group to paint up a chopper as NewsChannel 8 and fly right over/into and do whatever.

Make for some good footage as a couple of Eagles came screaming in on a news chopper :)

Anyone walks into an Airport terminal on July 4th with 2 guns and a knife,shoots/kills 2 people and stabs a security guard is a terrorist...That he was an Arab is moot.

"My husband didn't do such a thing. This is nonsense," 41-year-old Hala Mohammed Sadeq El-Awadly said in Cairo.  "He is a victim of injustice," she said three times. "In America, they hate Islam and Arabs after Sept. 11."

Too bad she wasn't holding his bags at the airport.
