random AH lockups
« Reply #15 on: July 07, 2002, 10:46:12 AM »
Exact same thing has happened to me the last two nights in a row -- and just now. It must have something to do with the bomber formations. I seem to lock up when right before the formation gets detailed. I see them as those strange choppy trailing dots, and JUST before they get big. Lock up.

I was looking up however. Sound loop, had to reboot.

:(

It's happened to me vs Lancs and just now a Ju88. I've been able to attack A20s with no trouble it seems.

Had one last night, froze the system hard. Was in midflight in a 110, squaddie was transmitting voice and the screen froze with his last tx being repeated over and over.

Something a couple of us have noticed, when these lockups occur our joysticks are now out of calibration, odd.

I've been getting the screen freeze thing  for a while now and got one last night with v 1.10.  Only once did my sound keep looping which was just a week ago, otherwise I just freeze up and can't do anything and have to unplug my computer and go through the Windows check-disk thing.

Another oddity yesterday was that while pulling inverted in my F4F-4 to watch a P38 crash into the ground I suddenly found myself back in the tower with the message stating I'd crashed.  I was nowhere near the ground when it happened and so am perplexed.  Luckily I was filming and will try to review it today.  A squad-mate said he'd experienced the same thing in a Zeke once or twice.

Folks,

As I posted in the bug forum. Give HT the system specs of machines that are locking up or having problems Only with complete info (or at least a hint) can HT find the problem. If they don't know where to look it will only take longer to patch the problem.

It might be a situation related to a specific vid card, sound card or bios. lerts help them fix the game we like to play. They have come through in the past as fast as anyone could ask, just give them the clues to work with.

PS. use the bug forum too to simplify the search for game problems.  :D

Frost, You obviously didn't pay attention to the work around on the bug forum. Simply set selection to 2 days and the new posts are up, including mine.

Now main point of my post here was to get those with ctd's, and I am one of them, to post system specs so HT can see if there is a common denominator to be looked at. If they can find one the game can be played again.

just had another lockup, right when a b26 formation high the ground, i was in a FM2. earlier tonight, was in an  osty with couple  other GVs otw  to a City, when a fellow
countryman's 3 b17 formation hit the ground next to us. we all
locked up at that point.

so something in the 3 buff formation is causing lockups when they
crash and u can see it.

I think Whels is right.  I have only had one lockup in the game and it happened today just as the first of 3 B17s exploded in front of me and I saw the message of the kill being recorded.

The Pilot I killed said he was at the same time unable to get out of his bombers.  So perhaps this is related to the fix for the Bomber bail bug?

On some of my lockups, I lose my JS all together. Have to unplug from the port, re-plug, then recalibrate. If I don't unplug it, Windows doesn't see it.

I had that happen last night, screen freeze, but sound was ok.Ive had the sound repete deal happen on other games.I think alot of it has to heat build up in my puter.Any yall overclock?I have a gf4 4200 and took a 30 to 40 fps hit with 1.10,i assume my graphics card has a higher load on it now with the newest version. After the screen lockup last night,i stepped down my gpu overclocking, and had no problems the rest of the night. It might just be some bug with the new version, but allways check to see how hot your systems running, esp. if ya have a AMD t-bird.
