Great idea here - tell ya why I think so. I just know Im gonna be called an idiot for this one but what the heck, been called worse than that before.
The other day I managed 5 kills in an M3 when spawned near an enemy vfield. I really wanted these 5 to show up in the text buffer so I decided to drive that M3 all the way back to where I spawned from. I mean like, this thing will do 40-45 right - how long can it take?
So, I start following the canyon and am nearly back to my base and run into one of those little Vs that you cant get a gv through. Should I give up? Nah, really determined now to get this thing back and put those 5 kills in the buffer. After all, Ive only been driving around for an hour or so by now - the afternoon is shot and the war is going along very nicely without me so, I turn around and undertake a journey that is prolly 35 to 40 miles long. I stopped halfway and made myself some lunch.
An enemy 109 flys past but either does not see me or doesnt bother with me cause what damage can I cause when I'm at least 10 miles from the nearest base, friend or foe.
My eyes begin to ache from the glare. I turn down the brightness a bit and that helps.
Finally, I'm getting to within 5 miles or so and run into a hill. I have to go up in reverse. Not only that, I have to tack up the hill, back and forth, gaining only slightly with every trip across the face of the hill. It takes like forever - and ever - and ever until I am finally at the top of the hill. I can see my base at the bottom and have fast and clear sailing all the way to the base. I pull into the vehicle hangar, exit to tower and sure enough, the five kills are registered in the buffer...
The upshot of all this is - they are all proxi kills and recieve no credit for them at all. I really had a good laugh on myself.
But hey, I wanted to see if it could be done, and it can be done if you want to spend the afternoon doing it. Im a stubborn yankee allright, but sometimes it does get the best of me.
If there was a place to land "successfully" at a remote spawn point, I wouldn't have been involved that long of an afternoon.
And, btw, I won't be doin that agin in tha neah feutcha.
