New Map (Not A Whine)
« on: July 07, 2002, 05:34:24 AM »
Yes I know there have been alot of negative and positive comments regarding the new map.

I'd just like to add that given the amount of time the AK's must of put into creating this new MAP (which was long overdue)  the least we can do is give it a full tour.

And then start to address any significant issues raised one at a time from there.

New Map (Not A Whine)

IMO, this map has some problems, but most of them may be fixed without changing the map itself, mostly because these problems may be present also in future large maps.

- Add a field locator button. This function centers the field in the visible map with enough zoom level to distinguish it from the surrounding fields and with its icon blinking for 5 seconds.

- Add a player locator (not just the wingman command) button. The player locator centers also the player in the clipboard map, also with some zoom and, instead of the dot, the player is shown as the small airplane that represent yourself, also for 5 seconds.

- Add an option to change the colour of the tracers. With actual textures (mostly yellow) I cant see them against the terrain most of the time.

- For the clipboard bitmap map give us two selectable options: the detailed one (the actual) and one more simplified, with only land and sea info, that is, a two colour bitmap.

- Change also the clipboard layout making its borders much thinner and erasing some artwork in the upper zone, maximizing the available space for the map, and an a little button to show only the map in the entire clipboard window, and the ability to resize it asimatrically (wider than taller).
