In future HTC please make terrains more Earth like again, I know this isn't intended to be a historic WW2 sim, but at least set it on Earth with plausable Earth topography.

I have to join the whinning.
I didnt like the graphics for the new terrain.

I dont blame it on the people who made it, its just that the AH engine doesnt seem to work well for desert textures, colors, etc.

Color is ok for me, what I don't like is the relief. It looks more like a quake arena than a real landscape.... Otherwise, great job on this map!

I like the canyons in this map; they remind me of the earlier Beta maps back about Tour 12 or so.  The tank battles were the most fun I ever had in AH.

This is a good map imo, and has a lot of potential...maybe even have a varient in the future where there are fiords and a mountain range in the center...with bridges and dams and such, where we can try our hand at dambusting with a Lancaster.

Could you imagine the feeling of satisfaction you'd get from flooding out the next two Vehicle bases down the line, after skip bombing the dam?

I suppose I'm biased toward a majestic Scandanavian looking terrain, with snow capped mountains and nice green fiords..it's easier on the eyes LOL.

This map does make you think though.  It probably resembles the real thing, and for a war simulation, the terrain would probably be accurate, because it's darn hard to see those camoflaged tanks.;)

Anyway, the layout of the map seems balanced.  The Martian-like (desert) terrain is interesting, though, in my case, is a little hard on the eyes.

The guys who made this map are good.  Salute AK.  I'm curious to see what they do next.

Battlezone was indeed a fantastic game - personally best game ever to me.

Anyone for a little revival. Are the servers still up ?

Have you ever been to West Texas/New Mexico/Arizona/Northern Mexico? This terrain looks just like it.

Do you have this infinite canyons and a pizza like land with stright lines of water?.

Seriusly, I concur with glasses.
The canyons are funny, but soooo much?. We may have one canyon or two, a desert area, a jungle and an European low landscape....There is place for all this in this huge map.
I agree that the feeling is that your playng a Quake arena or in a planet from Ground Control.

I dont feel inmersed flying a nice WWII greenish Dora in this landscape.

The colours are too clear and bright, the sand and the cloudless sky, that is tiring for the eyes too. Yep I may dimmer the monitor, but this is not a fine solution.

Since the appearing of this map my time on line has dropped by 50%, wich is good for my family ;)

I actually spent more time over this holiday weekend fighting a friend  in multiplayer Battlezone than playing 1.10. He was in town from Michigan and we had been planning on trying multiplayer for about two years now. It was a blast! We also flew some H2H AH lan as well (he was yyrkoon in AW) and he will likely be flying in the AH skies at some point after he clears up some computer/controller/wife issues.

Frankly, though, most of my leisure time was spent in the sun, on a boat, drinking beer, and getting a mean sunburn yesterday. The nice cold dungeon of a basement feels pretty good right now :)

This martian map has some bright sides.
1. Altitudes.  Now some fights actually occure above 10K, even at 20K. That gives a better spectrum of planes to use. Less La7's that high.
2. Canyons. They were fun back in the old days, and they still are.
3. Size. If you don't want furballs, you actually can go where there are none. Jolly good.
4. Desert. Yeahh...desert is a good alternative from old Mindano, NDisles, uterus, etc..........
Miss Scandinavia though.
By the way, what is the elevation of the grand canyon?
On Mars there are mountains up to nearly 90.000 feet, - I think this map falls closer to Colorado than that...
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
