One of those nights......
« on: July 12, 2002, 08:38:16 AM »
Flew Zekes last night to help keep numbers balanced.  What the hell I figured, I like zekes (prefer USN though).

Tough crowd and even tougher getting my 20mm to have any effect on P40s or Wildcats.  Three sepreate occassions I got good cannon rakes across two F4Fs and a P40 and didnt even see pieces fall off.  Then, take a few 50cal hits and fireball splode.  Usually, in my experience, Zekes in the MA take a real good dose of lead then light up but fly for a good 30 seconds (plenty of killing time in a phurrrball) before X'plodin.

So, I grabbed a Val, suckered a F4F into a low turnfight, got a good little burst of BBguns on first cycle, saw pieces fall off.  Came round on second cycle put another little burst into him and lopped his wing off.  Crash = burn.

Why would the little daisy package on a Val bring down a cat with such ease yet the cannon package on the Zeke seemed to have no effect?
