Well look, your time between posts was an hour and ONE MINUTE. Factor in the time difference and how far off was I? <evil grn>

Oh MY GOD

"The Skulls"

My first squadron in ANY game, and that was in AW4W when it first appeared on AOL.  What was that 1993, or 1994?

Runny, Stalker, Mustang Sally, and DEG, welcome my brothers and sisters to AH.

FYI Me and Whels, have flown here since the start with the MOL squadron, look us up.  Robert, or RWY, is flying with the 13th TAS and has been here quite a while as well.

Damn its good to see you all.

Why is it so many "old-timer-AH'rs" tend to think they are "above" anyone else.  Try and be mindful of the fact that:  This is a game, a buisness, and from the time some newbie's first 14.95 payment to HTC is recieved, that person is just as much a member of the AH community as anyone else making the monthly payment.  Having 10,000 AH flights, or 10,000 posts on this UBB doesn't make you king pig of the toejampile, it just means you've been here longer.  So in short, being an EX-Air Warrior for over a year....blow it out your ass.  Nobody was asking for YOUR respect or anyone elses, but the lack thereof is nothing more than a character flaw on your part.

FYI Ratbo, I have nothing against you posting this here. What you posted was well written and shows Blue Baron's passion for the software.

I only was trying to show that Gypsy Baron was over reacting to what Staga posted. It was not intended the way many of you percieved.

Last I checked, you didn't have to not be good to still be a newbie. Newbies are new to a game. In this case Air Warriors new to Aces High. Maybe you should check the definition of a newbie before getting all anal SwampRat.

I don't respect people that don't show me any.

Brat, simply having a UBB account since Sept 1999 does not qualify you as being here longer.

I first flew AH in Beta Tour 2 and have been a paying customer since.

You people turned this around to say I don't respect Blue Baron. How can I respect someone I don't know? Like I said, his words don't mean anything to me since I do not know Air Warrior and do not know him.

I don't suppose you amazinhunks could open your eyes a bit though and realise what I was saying?

No where did I say I say anything derogatory about him, you fabricated that in your minds.

Someone posted something, I gave my opinion and you all decide to join together and start doing a semantics dance on my words.

Well, if that's the way you deal in Air Warrior fine.

Over here, we were just fine until you came over and decided to plop your toejam on the table without even so much as a respectful hello or a greeting with common decency.

Ok, hello SW. Nice to meet you.

Since we've now formally met, let me criticize all the points in this thread.

1. How come I don't see a pornolized in every thread? I heard its a pretty damn funny joke around here? Wouldn't you want to see that joke in all threads, not jsut the ones that would offend the newcomers?

2. Why do you not want to learn history? AH is your game, correct? Why don't you wanna learn where its roots come from? Or, when you mean history, do you mean the kind that shows you at #1 in the scores show you can pump out your chest and proclaim only history relavent to you should be posted in "your" game?

Not once did it matter whether or not I knew who Blue Baron was, nor that I read his text as words of wisdom.

Blue Baron was actually IN WarBirds.

I politely invite you to hop on the clue wagon if you want to learn something about your hobby.

I don't blame AH folks one bit for resenting the influx of AW players, nor because of their lack of awareness of the rich history and traditions of AW, WB, and AH. Fact of the matter is that many players in AW don't know who Jonathan Baron is either. Most players signed up to play the game, not get all wrapped up in history of it. So for these folks I think it best that you ignore posts pertaining to the days of yore.

To all the rest, I must say I'm surprised so many seem unaware of the fine points of AH. Unaware of the rich history of the game... strike that... not the game but the community that sprung up around the game. It was back then, fifteen years ago that AH got its start. When we speak of AW history, we speak also of WB and AH history. They are inseperable.

Our choice for an online game comes complete with a culture and a community. This is true of most games where the players interact with each other on a personal basis, where friendships are made and bonds formed. Even Electronic Arts is aware of this, for in their last quarterly statement they mentioned that a players involvement in massive multiplayer online games can be as little as 10% game playing and 90% related activities.

But there is something else that many AH and AW community members know, that there is no other online game that has managed to create a community structure so strong as ours. One reason for this is folks like Jonathan "BB" Baron. I'll go out on a limb and say that Blue Baron is the world's foremost authority on multiplayer game communities. He has studied community dynamics in detail and is published on the subject. He is recognized for his knowledge by the gaming industry. There are factors that make our community great that many are not aware of. Such as the fact that game play is not predetermined for us, but the company provides the play ground and the players provide the game. Certainly all of you know this, but many don't know the significance of this in building a close community. Another is the concept of shame and glory, only Blue Baron can do this subject justice.

Many of us from AW have the greatest respect for the folks who started the game, worked over the years to make it better, and have enriched it over the years. Blue Baron is one. HiTech is another, as is Pyro. These are all our friends from long before AH went beta.

There are a few things that will draw the tears of these AW players. One is the legacy of Scavenger and the other the greatest generation, our vets, especially the WW2 aviators that we aspire to.

Many of the forefathers of online combat now play in WarBirds, and many of them are here in AcesHigh. But many never left AW until it was shut down and now choose to come here. These players are of strong character (I bet HiTech chuckles at this) and their presence will be felt. This is not to say they will try to take over AH, but just as you can't combine two cups of water without the result taking on the characteristics of each, this influx of AW players will have an affect on AH... I think it will be a positive thing.

I just think it's so cute the way you can take offence at a remark aimed at someone else.  Combined with the ability to turn a very specific comment into a sweeping generalisation you are just showing yourself to be full of little surprises.  ;)
