Regarding point 3.... I happened to capture the moment of the CV loss. When I saw three B17's overhead, I thought that the end was near :)    It was BGBMAW... I engaged his formation for over ten minutes, but neither of us scored a kill. (two experten you see   )

Another Golden Day in the desert :)

Brendo

I watched your film. I remember that happening. :(

Well, we've just finished a few real estate transactions. :) I came online and saw that V205 was red, just east of one of our aircraft bases. I decided to up a P47D-30 with 2x1000, 1x500 and 10 rockets to flatten it.  It was a textbook mission, if I may say so myself. Used the dive flaps in all dives. First vertical dive was with the 2x1000 selected for the VH. Boom! Next, .salvo 5 for the rockets. I made one pass for each ack, releasing 5 rockets on each pass. No problems there. No enemy GVs had got out, so I threw away the 1x500 and headed home to land. But oh! No one to help with the troops. :( Sod it, I'll get a goon in there myself, which I did - with about 1 minute to spare. What's this new "Gironimo" thing when releasing troops from the C47? Let me know the file name, so I can delete it. My drop was adequate, and the field went Bish. :D

Now to get that other field V206, before they hit us back. Same as before - P47D30. This field is a little harder, and I got my right gear pinged out, but the field was flat by then. And then I saw a green M3 - woohoo! I think it was blunder or boozer - those guys helped me a lot. I proceeded to A189 to start on that. Got its VH ack, and then realised I might as well do the town acks. I got them all, but suffered major structural damage. The plane was flyable, but blew up. :( Oh well... The good news was that the M3s got in to V206 - another field goes Bish!

Finally, I met up with Brendo, and we both went in P47D30, armed to the teeth. The town acks at 189 were still down, and I went to work on what was left, which was everything else. Poor Brendo had a mishap along the way :( I dropped my bombs, fired my rockets, and then made some strafing runs to finish the job. But oh! Here comes a Yak... I had enough E to zoom up, and then make a chandelle so as to get on his 6. He was going to strafe a Bish M3 that had arrived on the scene, but I had other ideas and shot him up. He attempted to rtb but died when attempting to land. The M3 released the troops and 189 was ours.

Not a bad hour's work, if I may say so myself! With thanks to the three Bs - brendo, blunder & boozer.

... and Lazs can eat my shorts.

I think Beet1e's post demonstrates quite well my point that for the "strat" players, AH is more of a team-based vs. AI game than a PvP game.

Personally I'd find that sort of gameplay painfully boring; I'm not into the field capture.  Unfortunately, when there's 100 players online there's not much else to do in AKDESERT.  HiTech's suggestion that maybe some fields could be disabled at off-peak hours has a lot of promise though.  I hope it works well.

J_A_B  I understand your point of view, and I was quite surprised that I faced so little opposition today. That was at around noon here - 7am where you are. Being in Euroland makes empty arenas a fact of life, unless I were to play all night through to about 5am or 6am.  And I hasten to add that jabo/capture is not all I do. Yesterday, I fancied something different, and went to a furball fight in a 190A5 - got 8 kills in the session, including a 5 kill sortie. All I'm saying is - I like variety. I like it to be a little like the real war, and not entirely like an arcade game.
