I've had a couple of Honda's, 1 Suzuki, a Yamaha, and 2 hodaka's. Group I road with had Bultaco's and Husqy's. The Bull was an animal, but my favorite was the YZ250. When you hit the powerband on the 2 stroker it launched !!! Guy I sold it to fell off running it across the yard to his truck ! :rofl Think he sold it a few weeks later, just couldn't hang on tight enough.

Got out of it when I had kids. I'd go with a 4 stroker if your NOT one of them youngsters. It will get you around well, and still be a lot of fun with out worrying about falling off so much  :aok

I've been on Dirtbikes pretty much my whole life..
Been racing MX and Flattrack since I was 13yo..
Even dabbled in Roadracing for a some years..
I'm 55yo now, that makes 42yrs of roost throwin...
So I know a (just a little) about it..LOL!!!
Still racing too!!! (Vintage&Evo, 250Gp and OpenGP)

If all you are doing is the trail riding, stump jumpin
stuff, then stick with a 4 stroke.. Honda or Yamaha
would be your safest bet.. Mid size, 250cc... Less
maintenance, no fuel mixing, changing trans oil
every ride, and far less highstrung nature than a
2stroke bike.. 4stroke, Hmm, Like a farm tractor, lol!!!
(Sorry, just a little jab at the thumper riders out there)

But, don't get a bike that is so limpwristed that you
will outstrip the machine in a few months.. You should
be a little intimidated by it at first, that will teach you
prudence in your riding..  You'll be suprised how fast
you will grow into the machine... And remember, crashin
a dirtbike is just part of the learning curve.. Unlike AHII
Crashing hurts a bit.. Don't be a pansy!!! Suck it up!!!
But if you aren't crashing once in a while, YOU AIN'T
GOIN FAST ENOUGH, SUCKER!!!! LOL!!!

You never stated your, hight, weight, or experience
level, so it kinda hard to say what kind of machine
would fit you well..

Good luck, be safe... Remember they don't give tickets
for speeding on a dirtbike...

Well, they do if you decide to skip school and take your 1980 RM125 up to the High School and roost mud onto the second floor windows while school is in session.   :lol  They got me doing 55 in a 25, couldn't actually catch me, but they were waiting in my driveway when I decided to go home.  :uhoh :cry
