HTC have a suggestion for low peak hours
« on: July 12, 2002, 01:27:46 PM »
Unfortunately some of us work turns and can't fly evening hours US times.  Some have to fly in the morning for a quick few hours before work etc.

The last update was great!  Aircraft as usual well done and the new map in general is very good.  Unfortunately a map this size gets even larger when the numbers shrink aka off peak hours.  If one only has a few hours to spend.  Logging on.....finding out where you're at on the map   asking over text buffer where the fight is, finding a nearby base again moving on the map zooming in and out etc.  Upping, grabbing toward the fight...arrive....fight decided...chasing what's left of the fight is all very time consuming.  This AM it took me 45 minutes to find (using various venues voice text buffer, finding , moving etc.)  engagaing enemy killing 2 of 5 then dieing.  That is a lot of time.

Do you think we might have used a bit to much club in expanding this terrain?  I believe we expanded it to four times the size.  Again map size should depend upon the number of users.  Would expanding twice the size have been enough?  I think that would have been adequate.  Again...based on numbers  the more participants the smaller a terrain shrinks, players/grid so to speak.

I have a possible solution to low number (below 300)  maybe we should also have the choice of logging onto an older format like baltic or mindinao?  Just a thought.  In that case   there is no overcrowding...and no undercrowding       :D   The terrain suits the number of participants, and thusly makes fighting faster and less tiresome searching maps, zooming....moving... asking nme postion text communications, up to fight   fight over.

Disclaimer:  this is not a whine, anything similar is just coincidental, this is an offered solution. any thoughts and ideas expressed by Hajo are not necessarily backed by his squadmates, family, or friends.  Any thought at all by Hajo is considered a suprise by family, friends and squadmates.

Hajo, I understand the problem during low number hours.

Im looking for a solution, but I don't belive other maps are the answere to it. Right now im searching for an idea having to do with only opening only some fields based on how many people are in the arena.
