One thing that works well for me on the panzers and ostwinds is to go to the commander view once you are up to speed and drive from there using the rudder functions.  The throttle will always stay open and adjustments only need to be made when encountering hills.

The commander view in the Ostwind is 2 and the commander view in the Panzer is 4.

this work only sometimes and you never reach top speed, unusable in hills

Can't you map it to your joystick throttle?

It works every time if you get it up to speed before entering the commander view.  With hills, it will also work if you get it in the proper gear.

Basically.. it just requires a little practice to become profficient.

Of course, that doesn't solve the problems for the other vehicles... but its still a good thing to know about.

Deja is right.  Get to top speed and you can go to any other seat, it will stay at top speed.  I just use the manual trim wheel on my joystick to trim full forward until I get to top speed, eliminates hold the stick forward.

Discussing the long ride, I do hope you know about the spawn points?  I only attack when a spawn point takes me near and enemy field.
