Porked CH flight rig
« on: July 15, 2002, 04:08:57 PM »
I see by these posts that others have experienced screen freezes.  Alas, my most recent freeze was accompanied by a more serious problem.  When trying to come back up (the following day), my CH flight rig (USB Combatstick, Pro Throttle USB and Pro Pedals USB) were not working.  Oddly, all the buttons and macros worked fine, just not the stick, throttle or pedals.  Actually, the pitch function on the stick - elevators - seemed to work when viewed from the cockpit, but not roll, rudder or throttle.

After consulting with CH tech support I tried the following:

Downloaded the new CH software -- 1.32 I think.

Took the CPU in to see that the USB ports were all functioning.

Tried calibrating from within AH (here I must comment that I did so with the AH Controller software still on my hard drive, as I am unclear how my HOTAS button and macro programming would remain if I dumped it)  Nor do I know if I was calibrating correctly.
I did notice, however, that in the Joystick Selection window, the inputs for the various devices seemed to correspond with what I was seeing from the cockpit -- pitch but no roll, no rudder and no throttle.

Any ideas?

did you try calibrating in the Windows Game Controller applet?

Thanks Ack Ack, but apparently no joy.  I ran the tests for each device in the Game Controller Properties and all seemed to work fine -- except for the right brake on the pedals.  I attempted to calibrate them (a bit confusing), then went online.   Nothing worked, including the views and HOTAS buttons.

I then opened my CH controller, calibrated there and went back online.  Once again the views, buttons and macros all worked while the stick, throttle and pedals did not.  An interesting difference was that when I looked out the cockpit at the ailerons, they were centered instead of in a bank left position as they had been before, and at engine start the engine went to idle instead of full power.  Beyond that, the stick, throttle and pedals had no affect whatsoever.
