When i make a map with the terrain editor and use it when i host a room it dosent look like what i made. It dosen't have the water ways or islands. Its just a flat map with a y sape figure on it. Its still playable but i would like to know why it dosen't display the map i made:mad:

[list=1]
  • Create map
  • Open map.bmp
  • Edit map to 256 colours (8 bit)
  • rename map.bmp to XXX.bmp (where XXX is the name of your map)
  • re-open AH TE
  • Hit build
  • Enjoy

Im new at this so its probably something little i didnt do. :confused:

If you open your map.bmp with windows paint and then select
File
Save As

File Name:  give it the same name as your Terrain
Save As Type:  select 256 Color Bitmap

Then save.

Now having said this you will notice that you will get some colour loss, that why you need a paint program of some kind.

Goto this thread, you will get some info plus almost to the end of it I have place a link to my site where you can download a program called Irfanview

http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53773

P.S  Also in that thread you will see info about DON'T RENAME .RES FILES
