Okay Exile, whats up with the logs?

Note: for example

Pilot XXX
takes off from field 35 in a F4F-4
shoots down a D3A piloted by JimBear
shoots down a D3A piloted by Ripsnort
helps CheezHed shoot down Sundog
maneuver kill awarded as JimBear crashes
shoots down a D3A piloted by dfl8rms
shoots down a D3A piloted by Ozark
shoots down a D3A piloted by Nifty
lands to refuel/rearm

Why giving credit for 2 kills for the same pilot?  This is consistent through out the whole frame.  Over inflated pilot kills suppose to be historical by the Stats guys too?  :D

No need to be modest with my ID Rip :)

Ya, I was wondering why the logs show that, can somebody please clarify exactly what a "manuever kill" is in the logs? Im happy enough with my scoring I dont need bonuses for bailing crews. I noticed a lot of pilots getting manuever kill credits as well.  That many guys augering in? or?...

Q.#2. Shot down by unknown gunner, what is that?

Thanks.

Do D3As have the "3 plane formation" option? That would account for the multiple kills of the same pilot.

-----------------

The "unknown gunner" is in most cases the Ack. In the logs, the kill is not attributed to a player for whatever reason and this is what I'm showing to reflect that.

man kills can come from a gunner dying (that's what Jimbear was doing when he gave Warloc a man kill) or if you're in the area when a guy gets pinged by ack and goes into the drink.

I'll remove all of the man kills of gunner/observers from my excel file.  Exile would have to tweak his script on the "official" points log, so that's up to him to take care of.

edit: 1 man kill of a gunner was removed from both sides in the above excel link.

Wow, only 7 kills difference in that first frame,  Allies had more numbers too.  Very close first frame!

Well, its a big ocean, get too spunky and you miss the raid entirely, its a tough task to do CAP with no radar.

Actually 1/2 the F4F CAP was engaged with Zeros at C35, with C31 being the NE pos carrier, which is the one your group attacked. I was heading there from C35 when the first wave came in. We really had no good indication as to which CV was going to be hit, despite several sightings of inbound raiders. I didnt think the IJN flight leader was going to be too obvious on the route, and they weren't.

In any case, its not much of a contest, D3A vs F4F, its a tall order to attack a CV and rtb without getting nailed by aaa or fighters.

Salute to all the IJN Dive Bombers, you guys did a good job.

Me, I don't mind taking a little time here and there to do the MS Excel stuff, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to help Exile with the permanent scripting stuff.  I'd end up screwing up his whole simladder site!

If it's in an excel spreadsheet it most likely was in CDF or TDF.  Why not get some uber geek code monkey to write PHP scripts to parse the raw data into an SQL database (MySQL comes to mind) and generate a web page?  No thought required that way; once the log file exists the rest is automatic.

Just a thought as I sit here writing PHP scripts to parse data into an SQL database for work...  :)

Puck, that IS what Exile does.  However, he's the only one with the keys to his scripts.  He doesn't let me drive 'em.  ;)  So I make do with what I've got available to me when he's busy and can't do the updates.
