While I like all of these bands and have their albums, they aren't necessarily my favorites, or representative of what I usually listen to, but...
In no particular order...

The Clash
Black Sabbath (the ORIGINAL Sabbath, that is)
AC/DC (they slip in on influence)
Johnny Cash
The Misfits
Black Flag
Dead Kennedys

CREAM! The inventors of the wall of sound.

Eric Clapton was even proclaimed as GOD.

Duane Allman was awesome in a shortlived career.

Soundgarden especially their early albumns.

Cool!  I was pokeing around in a music store in 1983 and found "Kill'em All" buried way behind loads of other stuff.  I saw the "Hammer and Blood" on the cover and thought "I just gotta hear this".  Turned out to be one of my favorite albums for YEARS, I couldn't believe the "new(ish)" sound.  Of course nobody in Oklahoma had ever heard of them, and some folks thought I was kinda wierd when they heard it blasting out of my very loud KRACO (woohoo, cheap as hell but great sound for about a month) car stereo.

...Started to un-like Metallica the 5000th time I heard Enter Sandman, now I can't stand the bastards since the napster thing.

im suprized no one has mentioned slayer:) kings of death metal

pink floyd very good band,,gots one of the top selling albums of all time<~right beside the eagles,,top album selling bands in the world right now

and for good old rock right now,,i have to say ac/dc and zz-top..they keep going and making good tunes every album:)

ccr great band,,allways thought john fogerty had one of the best rock and roll voices of his time
