BOEING TO USE DDD'S 3D TECHNOLOGIES AT FARNBOROUGH AIRSHOW
Boeing builds cutting edge 3D exhibition attraction with TriDef(tm) 3D Television
SANTA MONICA, July 22, 2002 - DDD Group plc ("DDD") announces that it has completed the delivery of four TriDef 3D Television systems to the Boeing Company ("Boeing") to create a high impact presentation for their exhibit at this week's Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, England.
The sale to Boeing included four 50" 3D plasma screens, two of which were converted to 3D from Boeing's existing inventory of regular plasma screens. In addition to the screens, Boeing purchased two licenses of DDD's new TriDef Transformer 3D conversion software, allowing them complete flexibility to create their own high impact 3D presentations. Boeing has also provided computer animation and design data from their visualization
and design tools that was converted to 3D by DDD for inclusion in Boeing's high impact presentation sequence.
Farnborough International is a prestigious biennial event in the air show calendar with this year's show running from Monday 22 July to Sunday 28 July. The large amount of sales contracts announced at Farnborough 2000 ($52 billion equivalent to approximately £35 billion) confirmed Farnborough International as one of the world's premier aerospace business events.
DDD CEO Chris Yewdall said "We first demonstrated the 3D screens to Boeing in August 2001. However it was the introduction of our easy-to-use TriDef Transformer 3D conversion software that helped secure this contract. As soon as Boeing's Exhibit Group was able to create their own TriDef 3D productions, they embraced the concept of presenting various aspects of
their business and services in 3D TriDef TV. This is a great example of how the captivating visual power of 3D can be readily harnessed by our customers."
DDD is transforming television with glasses-free 3D TV. Its patented technologies enable 3D viewing without glasses; supply of 3D content through 2D to 3D conversion; and 3D transmission over existing networks. DDD is quoted on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market (AIM:DDD).
