Frame 2 AAR

Lag was much better. No vox sucked, but if it helped the lag, then cool. Only 1 major gripe.....we had to fly over 4 sectors to rearm, and the CV was hdg away from us. I'm all for realism, but if I wanted to just fly cross country, I'd load up FS2000. So...30 minutes later we finally arrive at the CV...which has had a new course laid in announced and we lose 2 pilots to a turning CV.

Overall it was a great frame I thought. Much better than last one. Just some issues with CV control/placement.

Shillelagh Launched 16 SBDs against the IJN. We upped from the Saratoga, and Headed off to meet up with our Escorts. We had little trouble forming up due to lag, but everyone knew the rallypoint, so we just flew there under lag induced radio silence. Once there we met up with our escorts, the Nightmares. guys, that was an awsome job. We had a few escorts stay with us, but the bulk of the escort force went forward in a sweep. It was freakin peotry. Perfectly executed from my point of view.

At the Rallypoint, we split into two flights and headed in the direction of the last known contact of the enemy fleet. The fleet was located by the Nightmares (Another big !) and they vectored us in. There were about 4-6 Zekes still high above the fleet as we approached, and they were able to pick off one of my guys as we came in on our run. This was the BEST part of the mission. I mean, it all happened so fast! One second we were just flying around, looking for the fleet, the next second I'm saying "Shillelagh is Engaged!" I took my flight into a slight dive, as MonteZuma's flight made their attack. We got past the few escorts (with one exception, who was busy plummeting into the ocean in a firey wreck). We made Our drops from a fairly high altitude, in order to avoid getting pasted by the fleet AA. We managed to get away with about 50% losses.

We ran home on the deck (hoping our blue planes would not be noticed by any RTB IJN) Right after the drop, we were scattered into two groups. As we were running, we were picked up by our escorts again, and good thing too!, since we had just gotten a visual on some low Zekes. My group turned away from the Zekes, and set up a  rendezvous with the other 4 Shills. The Seven of us headed back to the Sara, which thankfully was still afloat (WTG Fleet CAP!). We performed a Flyby to boost the moral of the Hard Charging Sailors of the Fighting Saratoga.

In the end we claimed 2 Zekes and ONE FLAT TOP.

I flew as a guest of the NightMares,  for some reason this TOD has special intrest to as a memeber of the CAF.  ;)

I was given the task of flying with Dawg (BDF) and thats not an easy task...  First I had to drag him out of the Oclub and try to sobber him up..  heheehheeee    Seriously it was a pleasure, I dont get the chance to wing with him often, but always enjoy it.

Dawg and I stayed with the Shills in escort on the way to the target.  a pretty nice run without any real trouble.   I had excellent coms coming from the Shills, GD, and Dawg.   We stuck with them right to the IJN CV.

Then the Zeros came in.   Dawg and I were a little ways away investigaing some other Cons, When I got a Check 6 from Ammo.  I in turn 6ed Dawg and we reved back to the main group.  we engaged and I finished off 1 zero and pinged at least one more.

The Pursuit was taking us into the IJN fleet so I pulled up and away figuring I didnt do anyone any good dead.   I then picked up Sill and TX heading for home.   So I formed up above them to give cover on the return trip.

I managed to find Dawg again, or more like he found us.   About this time calls came of Zero sightings south of us, so we bid those 2 return SBDs fairwell and went to investgate.

As we neared the area, I noticed a friendly (was it gollum or ramsies) with a zero in pursuit,  I broke away from Dawg and Dove into clear his Six.  At about 300 yrds I opened up and Shreaded that Zeke.

I pulled out and looked for my Wingman,  He was aways away and engaged with a few zeros with Gollum.  I made for the fight and latched onto another Zeke,  Man I love the way they go Fireball when I open up on them.   I managed to Ping up another one, but I didnt splash him that I saw.

Gollum and Dawg both were calling bingo Ammo, and I was down to 52 bullets and I think they were in a damaged gun.   I had a Zero on me, but one of them must have spooked him and cleared me.   I saw the Zero turning away,  So I called on Text to Let him Go and Head back to the CVs to live for another day.

We all had damage, and were fairly busted up.  Still we got home and Landed on the CV.

It was a great time,  Id love to fly next week, but I will be living WW2 aircraft all week at Oshkosh AirVenture.   Hopefuly the following week I can return. :)

332nd Flying Mongrels launched 15 from CV 47 and we were slotted to CAP CV 45. We were divided in to three flights. One NW, W and SW. I was in the SW flight and after patroling at 20k for 40 minutes we spotted some dots SW. Sent two in my flight to give chase and we headed back for the CV. Another flight West of the CV was calling SBD and some fighters. We then ran headlong into some F4F's about 22k. This engagement took us to the deck. There were about 5 or 6 F4F's if I recall (have to view my film) vs 3 A6M2's. For the next 10 minutes I could not take the time to type our location for the breaks, rolls, Immelmann's, wing over's, I had to do to survive and clear the six of the members of my flight. Three times I was hit which cost me, a flap, aileron, and a leaking fuel tank. Six times I went level to scramble out a message only to break before I could type out our location and need for help. Down on the deck I finally saw one of our flight, "blutik" go down who had cleard my six several times in just a few minutes. Moments later I was able to down "OZK" of the Nightmares VMF 101 who bagged blutik!   to those F4F pilots of the Nightmares! Was a wild ride! :D After a few more minutes of my wings clipping the waves more IJN and F4F's came in and the engagement became scattered.

All of the 332nd hooked up over our CV and became one flight. Several refueled including myself who was leaving a leaking trail of vapor since the first engagement. We CAPed near the CV for a while longer and landed and called the frame.

We claim 10 kills and 2 assists. Losing about as many pilots (two due to crashing on CV). I think Maddog has 3 SBD's.

Good frame which I enjoyed, but I sure missed the vox.

We were assigned fleet cap at cv 35. We upped 16 f4fs and set up a patrol around the cv. I sent 3 scouts out ahead of fleet to find nmy.  The nmy flew right over one of my scouts and he didnt see them. High cap spotted bogs about 25 miles out of cv.  I vectored in the main group and made a pass on the vals. My lead group of 4 was able to slip past the escort and made a pass at the val's. I got one on the first pass and one on the second unfortunatly I made contact with the 2nd val and lost a wing tip. I turned my broken plane for home and the rest of the group engaged the nmy. I didnt write down the numbers and as the scores are on the board allready I wont go into them.  As I limped home I saw 2 vals make the dive onto our cvs resulting in no damage done to our group.  Best I can tell they where the only 2 to make it that far. I saw one of my guys engaged with 2 zeeks and a val so I tried to help but couldent get there in time. I tried best I could to get outta there but zeeks were all over me so I took my only out and hit the silk. The lost of vox was a bother but in the end we worked it out. Lag was much better than the previous frame but server still needs work just too many people with not  nuff badwidth I am sure HT will work it out.

FDBs launched from some CV in the Pacific.  Think it was 25.  We launched in these really slow planes....and when we tried to put our gear up, we couldnt.  Several members of the squad attempted flying upside down in an effort to make the gear go up, but we were unsuccessful.  We didnt fly very far before the cannibalistic urges running thru Fatty's brain forced their way out and he shot down Sally.  I swear we are more dangerous to ourselves than the enemy sometimes.

We proceeded to our target which was 52 or 53 or something like that.  We had a few escorts with us.  Once we were almost to the target, we got jumped by some F4Fs....who I guess fought their way thru the escort to get to us.  We lost a couple but managed to shoot down a few F4Fs.  We then proceeded to target with only Fatty and me and Moloch left....I think.  Fatty and Moloch ended up dying while hitting the target either to AA fire or the ground.  I dropped my ord on the ground next to a fighter hangar.....that damn dive-bomb site is all wrong.  :)  I continued strafing targets along with some other Vals from the 2nd strike group.  Once I had used all my ammo, I began the long flight back home to CV25.  After a long uneventful journey home, I settled my Val down on the deck deeply saddened by the loss of all of my squadmates on the mission.  Then I thanked the stars for not having the misfortune of flyin in front of Fatty.  :D

FDBs launched:
Fatty - KIA over target
Mason - KIA enroute
Myelo - KIA enroute
Sling - RTB safe
Hangtime - KIA enroute
Sally - KIA enroute
Innomin8 - KIA enroute
Moloch - KIA over target

MAG-33 launched for AK escort to enemy CV.  Brought them all into target alive.  Ran into Grimm and Co. on the way home low and no ammo, had a helluva fight with Grimm and friends.  Whats the odds of running directly into you in a big ocean like that? :)

All, had fun as usual.
