Stolen from another bord.

I always attacked trains broadside.  Sometimes you could
shoot two in one pass (works best with oil tankers), but you
want to avoid flying straight over them because they may be
flak cars or they be full of ammo.  So attack them a lot
like you would attack a carrier in AW.  As soon as you have
finished fired, make a diving turn and stay low until you
are comfortably out of accurate AAA fire, then pull up for
another firing pass.  You want to avoid flying directly away
from them in a straight line when within accurate AAA
range.  You should hope there aren't several flak cars in
that train.  Their coordinated firepower could be unhealthy
during a pass from the side (or any angle).

heh, heh, that is great sport.  If you are the lead plane
attacking a moving train, your first pass at the engine is
sure to get the guy looking out of the window, heh, heh.

Krush failed to point out the fact that
earl is a WWIII pilot who had time in
 the P-47, P-39, P-38 and a few other planes
and is talking about real life attacks on
 trains here.

You don't have to defend Earl, because I will !

I'm one of the original AH's, err umm and an old WB's and AW's guy.

But I met Earl at the 2000 AW con. He's a nice guy, and he's done toejam the rest of you dream about (fantasy or nightmare you decide).
