Hayulp! Mini Freezes.
« on: July 19, 2002, 10:10:17 AM »
Hallo.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 5100-201 Laptop.
P4 1.6 Ghz
Geforce 440Go 32Mb Graphics
384 Mb RAM
Yamaha AC-XG soundcard.
Win XP Home

I'm getting mini freezes, usually when a new sound loads, for example when I take hits, or fire my guns. this is causing me to loose many kills as the .5 second pauses are spoiling my aim.

I've tried moving my hardware acceleration slider to the left (and right!) but it dosen't help.

when I run DXdiag and click on 'Test Directsound' under the sound tab it gives me a box which says

"Your Soundcard does not support hardware buffering. Sounds will only play back from software buffers"

Aurelius replied to me recently, but I still got a problem.

Thanks in anticipation..

Ddriag,

I do not know if this pertains to your situation. But I was having the same freezes and longer ones ,up to 10sec. I unistalled AH and then installed the full current application, and did not install any addon soundpacks. Havent had a freeze since then.
goodluck

I take it back. After 1 night of good play freezes are back,3 mini, and  2 total freeze hard reboot kind and 3 CTDs  :(

Several freezes for me last night, and 3 hard-lockups.  My connection looked solid but there was a pretty bumpy host queuing.
