I agree the hit and destroy ranges I hear about in Ah are simply rediculous for WW2 tanks. One can make silly arguments about AH tankers having experience and all that but it's simply beyond reasonable the long range hits we have.

With that in mind no matter what aiming system and optics AH has Soviet optics should have markedly lower precision and performance than German optics, which were by far the best in the world during WW2.

GRUNHERZ,

I was also counting the capability of the HE shells, which on the 85mm I assumed to be superior.  I might be wrong on that count.

I knew that the high velocity German 75mm gun was superior to the Russian 85mm gun.  I was not aware that the PnZ IV H had the high velocity 75mm gun.

the 85mm and the 75mm L48 had similar (85mm marginally better) AP ability out to about 1400M, but past that the 85mm is considerably superior. the only time the 75mm L48 was superior was when using the PzGr40 tungsten rounds..... which for the Germans were as rare as hens teeth.

you can't beleive everything you read..... :) .....

In addition to more realistic sites, the ground war would certainly benefit from better terrain.  As it is you're either on a hill or on flat ground.  If you hide behind a building, someone or ack will shoot you right through it.

What would be real nice would be a tree line you could hide in to set up and ambush.  A sand dune you could pop up over, take a shot than back down into safety.  Buildings that woud allow you to drive in through the back side and wait for your prey to drive by the front.  Definately some type of cover or camoflauge (sp?) to keep from being spotted from the air.  (that could be interesting, keep your tank still for 5 minutes and automatically have a camo net deployed to make you invisable from the air)

The normal 75mmms used on german tanks were
75mm l24, really only an HE weapon early panzer ivs

75mm l43 used on the Panzer ivF2 much better AP capablility

75mm L48 used on late Panzer IVs G, H, J, better again and fairly equivilent in AP to the 85mm on the T34-85, except in HE of course.

75mm L70 on the Panther. Much supperior to the 85mm on the T34-85 except for HE.

The T34-85 would be more useful for anti tank then the Panzer IVH because of its supperior speed and armour and parity in killing power. More resistant to Osti fire...
A great tank for AH.

great looking too.

and the M4a3(75)w...mmmm
50 on the roof and gyro on the gun...
Great looking tank too.

Then the game is ready for the 60 perk panther.
