icon's are needed because this is a video screen .. it can't come close to the human eye even at 1600x1200 not even close..
you need icons

Personally, if I'm in a camoflaged plane down in the weeds, I don't want a big red icon over my plane pointing me out to some guy nearly 6,000 yds above me.   I SHOULD be real hard to see.
For me, the benefits of short range icons outweigh the disadvantages.

How we doing?:

Can be an aweful complex question.  I dont have the time neccessary to go into details right now but suffice it to say my best time in the CT has been a result of the full but smartly perked planeset on the Perdonia terrain

By its ever changing and varied nature the CT will never appeal to a wide audience at any single time.  I have tasted the CTs many varied flavors many different times and loved a few, enjoyed some and hated others.  Thats the nature of the beast.  That being said:  You folks have done about as good a job as any group of people could dare hope to do.

Random thoughts:
Word of mouth travels far in this community.  

Having a new version released hampers the CT because many are compelled to test blood in the MA.

Strict planesets limit appeal but provide immense satisfaction for a few.  Very important for HTC to provide this.

Terrains must be FPS friendly.

CT has a far better connect quality than the MA.

Icons are better when ""reduced"" from MA standards

As long as you guys can continue to provide good, varied and intersting setups, and promote them with more vigor and hoopla in the General Forum, you should be ok.

Then again Im sure you all know this.



More thoughts exist, Im just too tired at the moment.

It is motion that draws the eye and makes even a camo aircraft visible. This effect isn't present in the games to date because of the limitations placed on the display by technology and monitor size.
