I fixed my system freeze-ups
« on: July 29, 2002, 08:10:13 AM »
system was crashing every flight within 2 - 5 min of taking off...
I reformatted my drive installed Win98se and loaded all latest drivers but loaded old DirX 8.1 drivers and still was having lockups -tried several diff settings on Mboard still locked up ..
I then loaded a program called "cacheman" and went through each area and let it adjust all the diff. cache settings and it still was locking up. I went back into the program and selected its pre-settings for games and went back into AH and still it locked last try after restarting comp. for the 20th time while in game I "ALT+TAB" out of the game pulled up cacheman and clicked on a tab called recover mem and through the cource of 3 hours of no crashes durring game I would ALT+TAB out of the game and recover anywhere from 32mb - 120mb of mem. I dont know where the prob is with game or my system but doing this kept me in the air for 3 hours for the first time since the last AH patch..

Memory leak?

I have 1.5G of ram on the beast I play with.  RARELY get a freeze, occasionally get a CTD.  Do get the occasional freeze, though.

Runing W2KP with minimal services and little in the background.  If the leak can suck a gig and a half of mem dry I'd expect more of this than we've seen.
