Channels-

DirecTV is the toejam. I JUST got it installed, a clear great buy.

There was the "Skip Rope Championships" on ESPN231 something or nother...

It had some stupid hag that looked like a diesel dike’s little sister, woman’s tennis commentator spin off , claiming she was "out of the sport for 10 years" but now could have a fresh look at judging the mindless, no one cares event.

AMC had “Midway” always a good look, that guy burned up and crashed on the carrier, AGAIN. And still, the Japs never will rearm them planes at the right time.

Clint was in “Pale Rider”, I’d  hoped  for “The Outlaw Jose Wales” (1 hour away) and “The Grinch Who Stole X-mas”, and 25 other bad movies I would NEVER watch were on.

They had “The best sports show ever” on 12 different channels, Paula Abdual as guest, god I’d like to treat her like the hag she is. Over and over, and sideway’s, and upsidedown…sorry.

Anyway, 10 “Discovery Wing Channels” were on -Wings of the Germans, Wings of the Luftwaffe, Wings of Leather pants, Wings of guys that sniff leather pants. Wings of pants smellers, etc…” were all at the beckoning of the remote.

Local News, 10 more versions of the same, and thankfully WGN so I can watch the Cubs lose everyday, and watch people in Chicago die from heat just before they freeze to death.

Plus- I can buy anything from BBQ utensils, to machines that make pancakes, with the click of the remote. And pouring the pancake batter and then turning it with a spatula was always a engineering achievement/skill  that eluded me. For $14.95, I have alleviated  that nuisance.

Did I mention it's clear?

DirecTV is the toejam.

You are one of those guys who gave the installer a great big bear hug in appreciation when he was done right?;)

Creamo what's it cost? I'm paying bout 80 bucks a month for AT&T digital cable not counting 40 bucks for my cable internet access, and I don't get anything worth watching on the 70 or so channels I get. If I could get another 50 channels that play crap I never am interested in watching then it could be a real deal.

I have basic cable and watch mostly movies I rent or buy.  Don't really have time to look around at 100 stations.   Seen one new show last "season".  The sheild.... It was good.   I recorded it and watched it later every time.   I can't stand tv commercials .

our big screen tv never looked so good.
we've never experienced lack of service.
and the choices.. yeah.

still use ATT for Broadband Internet though.

and to add to what Laz said.. about commercials.

not only do I dislike them.. why the hell do they have to be so friggin' loud !!!???

Elf.. I suggest starting with the second tier package (can't remember the name right now)
it runs 35.95/month and has most channels, not including the sports packages & movie channels.

DirecTV subscriber for almost 3 years.   In a A/V forum (Sound & Vision) as well.

ELFIE :  You're being raped bro!   $39.99 a month (w/o HBO and the others) will give more more channels than you know what to do with, LOCAL CHANNELS included.  My wife and I pay $60 a month, for the HBO/STARZ II package.  "Digital Cable" is still run through the same "jumper stations" as standard cable, so picture degradation will always occur.

Check out http://www.directv.com  or http://www.dishnetwork.com

If you are a sports junkie (like myself)  DirecTV has the better sports programming.

If you aren't either one will be just fine.

ASk me any ?'s Elfie.

I switched from Digital Cable to DirecTV moving this last week.

Initially, it's free for 4 months, as i ordered the NFL TICKET package.
After that, $85? I think for all the hoopty crap. I'll pay it and with a smile. WELL worth it.

Cable is crap, I thought I had a bad TV, with the satellite, it is excellent.

I reread my last post. Lemme say to make it clear, the diffrence is I thought I had bought a bad TV, now I am truely amazed at the picture quality.

Cable is so bad, it's like going from a fuzzy video tape, to hooking up your DVD player to the "S" video input.

(Im well versed in electronics as you can tell) Which I did.

$85/month is pry alot to have hoola hoop champoinships on ESPN90, but I'm in. The picture is a amazing diffrence.

good point.  S-video is the way to go.

I like the 'all day ticket' thing for pay-per-view too.
