Billing time soon----
« on: August 06, 2002, 12:25:17 PM »
& still I cant count on a playable game. Ive tried sending pingplotters to anyone & everyone, posting them on boards & looking for any help from squaddies & other gamers, all to no avail.
My troubles are intermittant lag, intermittant poor frame rates, constant poor host-que graph, intermittant poor delay graph, & the latest (feather that broke the back) losing udp & booting.
I am going to work on this problem but I can no longer continue to pay for this unplayable game. I will continue to look for a solution to these problems but I am beginning to lose my optimism.

You trace looks ok. Have you tried to see if there may be any other programs running that could cause any of these? For the frame rate issue when does it drop the most?

I close all other windows before I start game. As for when it happens there is no specific time or reason that I can figure. It has been suggested that I may be being hacked as there is most often a coinciding delay spike when my FR dops. I was advised to pick up a firewall to check that out. This leads me to how do I use firewll to check it out without screwing up game, I thought firewalls made game communication between host & player more difficult. I have till end of month to fixx it,  fingers crossed-

There was 2 extra items on the list besides systray & somthin else that shut off puter when I tried to close it- was called explore i think. At anyrate I have installed norton securities & have not had any attempted hacks for 24 hours, so much for that theory. Now unfortunately I cant get the game to let me online even when norton securities is disabled. Ahhh- will the fun ever end?
At this point Im ready to uninstall securities & try to get online AH again. Maybe its just not meant to be....

Anton..there are several good simple firewalls to use. I use Zone Alarm w/no problems. Email me if you need help.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

He's already got Norton Internet Security installed, of course, so installing Zonealarm would not help him.

i was lucky enuff to have some 1on1 contact with aurelius today, Much appreciated. He seems to think Its the vid drivers. I looked for 16.30 win98
as suggested above however was only able to acces 16.30 XP, that number was found on page 4 I think. I did see driver 30.30 wich had a long list of compatible drivers. My geforce2 MX100/200 is in that list.  I guess ill try experimenting with different ones & see what I get.
-Xbat-  I purchased norton to go with all my other norton stuff, its workin great now Thnx & >S<

Detanator drivers nearly killed my XP machine with TI500. I tried it twice. Using right drivers everything. Boy was it murder.

Another thing for you to check is if you have any scheduled tasks or background services that run.  A prime example is MS Office.  It likes to oragnize your file system to suit its needs.  Another example is windows update.  You can set it to automatically update, which means it has to connect to the MS site to see if there any updates available.

Just a couple suggestions
