Is it possible to set stray AA fire to also wound friendlies?  This is something that has always seemed a bit "gamey" to me, especially in the carnage that is a CV groups cover fire.  Getting hit by an AI bullet it should hurt (not talking about kill shooter - we need that). Is this a settign or is it in the fundamental game design?

Is this an issue?  I cant recall except maybe once of ever hitting a friendly while defending with an osty, M16, or gun emplacement reguardless of how many friendlies are in the air.  Of course on the other hand I also have difficulties hitting enemy planes, so everybody is save.
Maybe HTC should just pattern all the AI ack after me.

Setting it up so that AI flak kills its own side's planes would have a bad effect on things like base defense.  Who would want to suppress a jabo raid if their own flak is going to drill them?

I know your issue was regarding the planes that fly into flak fields for self-preservation, but I think that problem is outweighed by the problem your solution would create regarding base and carrier defense.

Then again, if it was easier to kill carriers and bases by not having to worry about fighters chasing us bombers into the flak field, maybe we could win the resets faster.

if aa hits you (5 inch 88 included) it damages you no matter if its friendly or not.

It just doest target you.

I have my eng knocked by friendly 88 and inch several times.

Wotan Is right All ack flak will kill you unless its friendly "player" fire. But Freindly AI AA will kill you if you stray in front of it be it ack or flak.

I've had Cv ack shoot off my elevator on take-off.  It wasn't purdy...
"Willy's gone and made another,
Something like it's elder brother-
Wing tips rounded, spinner's bigger.
Unbraced tailplane ends it's figure.
One-O-nine F is it's name-
F is for futile, not for fame."

I once saw a guy explode when he was chasing me while his own CV flak was targeting me.

I can give credence to the fact that friendly ack AI will kill you.

You know that cruiser that is generally out front of the CV?  I once launched a CV to assist in defending the task force and headed level and straight just after takeoff to gain speed and just when I got to the port side of the cruiser, a con port side of me all of a sudden got to within range and I was in between the con and the guns.  A million lazer blasts erupted and shredded me into confetti.
