I found it quite excellent, thank you. :)

I flew AW for a few years as a Buccaneer until they went their separate ways.  Joined the Sea Serpents and flew with them for a couple years until AW imploded.  Had my "feelers" out trying to find a replacement.  Went to WWIIOL, Fighter Ace and WB to test the waters but they just didn't feel right.  The Sea Serpents couldn't pick one Sim to form up again until Rex/Zaphod and Smaug told us about how fun Aces High was/is.  We slowly formed up our squad again and are almost to our full numbers we had in AW.    Once again the Sea Serpents are having a great time flying and hopefully in the future have the same success in Aces High as we did in AW.

Was in WB's when my squad (332 Flying Mongrels) debated and decided on coming to AH right at the outset of AH going pay to play.  Been here ever since.

I used to visit combatsim.com all the time looking for skins for WW2F and info for upcoming games. I saw a banner with a pretty picture of a Zero in the sunset.

I clicked on the link.

I downloaded the software.

I played my 2 week free trial, and loved it, It seemed like everytime I logged on during my free trial, there wasnt more than 100 players on. I remember learing a lot from mathman. And this was before the Hellcat came out  What did you fly then Math?

After my trial period ended, I played H2H for almost a year. Until price was brought down to 14.95.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Well, I started flight sim games with that "Chuck Yeager" simulation. I was always exclusively facinated by  prop-sims, and I also majored in Western History. Anything that had to do with airplanes of WWII was a big interest for me - building models(though only a newbie at this), reading books(hard to find good books in Asia :) ), reading stories/reports..

Then I first got my hands on Dynamix's Aces of the Pacific, and Aces of the Europe. The translated manual was pathetic(10 pages), but reading about the aircraft and getting to fly them on the PC was almost like a dream-come-true experience for me. I tried almost every 'new sim' that featured WWII planes, and since it was pre-internet era, I actually thought pretty good about being able to shoot down hundreds of AIs in a day :D

Then, the internet age arrived. Found this pleasant on-line game called "Air Attack(FA1)" :) So, my MMOG experience begins with Fighter Ace. I realized there were also other people like me, and some of them recommended War Birds. Those were the "final days" of War Birds and Air Warrior, but I didn't get a chance to play it. So I naturally continued to play through FA1.5, FA2.0 and FA2.5. I was pretty cocky by then, since it was fairly easy to shoot down ;) people in FA, and downing all those "Green GBR" hoardes in Spit14s with the 109F-4 was always a pride-swelling experience.

Then, one day, some of the people on the community I was at recommended "Aces High", which was supposedly the newest hot-rod in the market(by that time, AH was in 1.05 I think..). So I started off with AH1.05. I think to myself "OK, let's give it a try" - pick my usual ride Bf109F-4 in that cocky "Fighter Ace mentality", and found out I couldn't sustain a turn that lasted more than 270 degrees! As if that wasn't enough, I instantly became cannon-fodder to every enemy around. Boy did my ego take a hit there!

So that's how it all begins.. :)

There was a link to the open beta on CombatSim.com.  I clicked it, gave it a quick try and liked what I saw.  However, I was working 60 hour weeks as a software QA engineer and didn't have the energy to do more QA at home.  I kept track of AH's progress and signed up when 1.03 was released.

I've been here ever since.

Downloaded it back in January 2000 at the urging of my CO, hblair.
Couldn't do much more than fly around as a target with the 6-10 FPS frame rates I was getting with my ancient video card.
Stuck with it thru the beta versions, bought a new vid card in March 2000,  have been here every since.

Got feed up with CFS2 planes.. Read online for 2 weeks all I could about the 3 big Online Sims. Almost got hooked by the pretty planes in WB. Eventually eveything started pointing to AH as the better game with the higher population of skilled pilots not arcade arenas. Best choice I made.  I've never fired up another pay sim since.

Finally decided to let my head heal from beating it against the wall over a WB.

Tried AH out, took my time, took it all in and realized that this would be a real nice place to stay.

And it is :)

Good people. Good game.

What more could a poop want ??

I played WB for about 3 years, it was my first multiplayer online game, met HT and Pyro at the 98 WB con in Dallas. Was impressed with them and when they started AH I was given an opportunity to do some of the latter stages of alpha testing.

Played WB some for a while after that also because my squad was in there then made the break from it and never looked back.

My squad was well established in WarBirds.  Most of us lived in the Colorado Springs Area.  One of us was a AH Alpha tester.  He invited us over to his house the hour AH went Beta (he had kept quiet about it untill then, as asked).  By the end of the evening most of us had gone home, downloaded AH and started and account.  WE haven't done a squad mission in WB, nor have I logged in since that night.

I was cruising around in my yatch when I recieved a cellphone call from hitech

"Hey Animal! I'm making this new sim, and it wouldnt be cool if you didnt play and spice up the arena"

So I said

"I'll right H-Dog, I'll do you the favor and give it a shot"

The rest is history!

I found a link on combatsim.com the first day AH hit public beta. Been here since day one.

I remember the day http://www.hitechcreations.com went live.  No BBS, just a front page with a statement from the new announced HTC
about this soon to be leased gem.

Unfortunately I wasnt invited to alpha test so I was stuck with WBs until public beta was released.  Cancled my WBs account the following day  :)
