Ears popping question
« on: April 27, 2000, 01:12:00 AM »
I remember doing this quite often in AH, Zoom climbing/Diving for some 10K feet !

Now, I have a question for the acrobatic Pilots here, Whenever (Only flew in passenger planes) you climb or descend, pressure falls & rises & u have your ears popping...it sometimes even hurts a bit (Luftansa is very good at descending 5K feet like a rocket)... what does it feel like when U have that 10K feet difference in a matter of seconds ? It must hurt , right ?

just like scubadiving but I've  never nose dived from 10,000feet. I have deliberately spun down from 8,000 though
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

Just this Monday I was trying to "fit" into the only cloud clearing I could find from 7,500 feet. Descent was at >1,500 ft/m (close to Vne) and those damn ears sure popped/hurt and I couldn't hear properly for about an hour after landing .

Been Towing gliders or a few years and regularely do the decent from 5.500 to 2.300 feet to land (including the landine   )in less than 2 mins .. also flew on "meat-bombers" a few times (skydiver drop planes for the uneducated   )´in a Shorts skyvan .. we dropped from 16.000 feet and were back on the ground 2'30" later .. THAT popped my ears the first time .. but you get used to it pretty quick when you do it regularely .. and you can Swallow a few times hard with your mouth open to force pressure equilization (spelling?)
