speed command question
« on: August 19, 2002, 10:18:18 AM »
does the speed command work with level autopilot, or am i doing something wrong?

for example, when i hit alt-X for climb auto, the put .speed 140 in radio and hit enter i can see an effect on my plane. but if i just hit x (level auto) then open up radio and type .speed 200 and hit enter the plane doesn't fly at a constant speed.

thanks for any help

the '.speed' command is for autoclimb only.  It has no effect whatsoever on level speed.

Correct, the plane will not fly at that speed, you have to adjust rpm and manifold pressure to remain at a constant speed. the dot speed command is for climbing at a certain speed, for example, the P38 climbs awesome on speed 255, and the F4U on speed 225. The reason I set these is so that I can climb at a decent rate while getting to my target in a reasonable amount of time. Also, if you encounter a con you have some manuevering speed. Just a suggestion.
