Moving from V5 5500 to G4 4200?
« on: September 22, 2002, 02:51:54 PM »
I've got a dual P3-1G and am considering moving from my V5-5500 to a G4-4200. What frame-rate should I see with the equivalent of the V5's 2xFSAA? I need to move as the UT 2003 demo doesn't like the V5.

2xFSAA pretty much runs at the same speed as no FSAA..

The card is a whole lot faster than the V5, so you'll get very improved performance.

I now have a GF4 4400 and resolution 1600x1200 in AH with quincux FSAA works fine. If unlocked the fps is 75.

I made the same move.

You'll need at least Quincux AA on the GeForce 4 to equal the 2x FSAA on the Voodoo 5 IMO.  I've had both.  The Voodoo's image quality is still better than the GeForce 4.  4x FSAA on the GeForce 4 is what it takes to equal or surpass 2x on the Voodoo 5 IMO.

Sigh.  I like my new GeForce 4 Ti4200, but what a shame to have lost 3DFX...
