I heard 75%  but then who knows how they tallied the end result.  In the end, it was all very sad.  I give thanks for having been born when I was: 1964.

No, during the attack a platoon would be killed off (100% casualties) so they would send in another platoon (all lost again) then another...       (just to take a hill many thought was stategically unimportant):(
God put me on earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now, I am SO far behind, I will never die!

Actually casualtie means wounded or killed.  I think there were around 350 American WIA/KIA.

-Saving Private Ryan (first 30 minutes) - the sound is what does it I think.

-Thin Red Line - Realistic behavior - men just pointing guns over a barrier and pulling the trigger without aiming, etc.

-Blackhawk Down - Again, realistic behavior - dropping weapons, confusion, etc

-Heat - Classic... and... they actually CHANGE mags!  :D

I know this tread was opened on firefights, but I think for just all out fighting my vote would go to Bravehart.

For firefight I would pick Band of Brothers.

The sound in SPR sounds extremely good, but the picture is sort of John Wayne.

The first part of Enemy at the gates is wonderful, even though I'm baffled how the Germans didn't win it

Anyone mention "We Were Soldiers" yet?  I rented it over the weekend and was hooked.  That film should bag a truckload of nominations and awards, hands down.

Bought it. Wow!

Check out the deleted scenes. Some definitely should have been left in.

My favorite ones for what approximated actual combat from peoples eyes who have been in it. Not necessarily in this order.

Band of Brothers

Black Hawk Down

SPR

We were Soldiers

This list is according to hearing my granddad talk about fighting the Japanese in the South Pacific. After he saw the different movies. For him the most realistic would be a combination of all those listed.
Buckshot
