I switched from ME (NEVER had a problem), and have had XP Pro (Full Version, not Upgrade).  I love it and still do not have a problem.  800Mhz PIII, 394Mb SDRAM, Hercules GeForce DDR-DVI (32Mb) [75 fps, 40 in a furball], XP Pro.  I agree with the above posts.  I personally do NOT like 98SE, we have it at our work and I have too many problems with it.  HOWEVER, I know alot of people that have it and LOVE it.

Majority rules here, don't change it.

XP is a bad idea IMO.
If you dont have any trouble with win98 keep it.  If you're frustrated at all by hard-locks and other win98 nonsense, get a copy of win2k.  Windows 2000 is essentially XP minus the bloat and new bugs.

I run 98SE, and I am gonna keep running it as long as possible. After this, I will probally go to Windows 2000.

I only changed to XP because it was a new computer. I haven't had any issues that I could trace back as being OS related, though I have had a hardware issue as of late. If you use Saitek gear I'd suggest staying with 98se a bit longer, the win2k/XP support is coming along but still lagging compared to 98.

If you want to upgrade just to be current I'd say leave it. If your having issues that warrant rebuilding the machine, check to make sure all your hardware is supported first.

Windows XP Professional rocks.
Best MS OS ever.

For me its more stable than Win2k, plus its more compatible.
I dont care for the aesthetics, I switched my desktop so it looks just like 2k

XP is by far the best OS available to date. There is a different look/feel which you will become acustome to. I never get bluescreens XP has a better add/remove than 98se. I personally think XP is better if you IPS is broadband. Just my opinion.

For the record if your using a Sidewinder FF pro (1st version) MS isnt making an updated driver set so you dont get the full force feedbackwith win XP

the 'different look and feel' is what Animal and I were referring to.  I turned it off.

XP Pro here (full version).  Much, much better than any 9x kernel OS.
