Looking for help on the italian planes.  I'm totally ignorant of their strengths and weaknesses.  How do you fight in them?  Thanks.

C202 is a pure dogfighter.
Puny guns 2 50s and 2 30s.
One of the best turner.
Really slow.

C205 is well balanced.
Good guns 2 50s and 2 20s.
Good turning.

205 has good speed, fair turning ability, and good dive handleing. It also carry's a fair supply of fuel in several tanks. Plus it has a boatload of ammo for those 20mm cannons. Kind of an Italian spitfire.

Fly it fast, pick fights you can win, ie turn with those that don't turn, stay fast with those that do. Watch La-7's & 190's carefully!

Try the 205 first, It's faster than spit IX on the deck and the 20mm are great for snapshots.  Try to come in high and keep you SA up, the view from the cockpits pretty good. As GhostH said, pick your fights, it will outclass a bunch of stuff if you fly on your terms.  High speed handling is pretty good. Fuel load I've always thought of being on the low side, lack of DT's is a major minus.

The only time I have been accused of cheating I was flying a 205  :)

Couple things to remember on the 205...

1st map your 20mm seperate from the mg...use the mg's only to force a break or harass. You dont want the 20mm dropping under the bogie when your in good position...I usually fire from 300 in with the 20mm

2nd Burn your wing tanks 1st right on take off before the aux fuel...this will increase the roll rate and handling alot

3rd The plane is outstanding up till 18k or so...it's pretty useless above that. If you climb to about that alt and then slowly drag the fight down you'll do pretty well. You can fight just about any plane in set and have a chance in the 18-12k range...obviously you'll need to learn the FM vs each plane.

All in all it's an outstanding mid war ride that can be flown successfully both as an E fighter and a B&Zer. You can T&B with all the late war stuff. toughest matchup is probably the Yak.

Don't agree here. IMHO the view is one of the badest caused by the big huge braces? (don't know the english word sry).

Yesterday i encountered a very high 20k Ju88 formation at d2.0. I tried to climb behind after the buffs. It lasts endless till i got a gun solution and  ... yes the 205 performs terrible at that alts. Was really really hard for me to kill the buffs and I wasted all of my ammo to get him. Could'nt get this plane stable to get a good tracking shot.

OTH flying through a furball with speed and staying high is great in the 205 even though snapshots are sometimes very hard caused by the bad visibility.

This is where most people underestimate the 202. It actually is faster than you would think. It's speed is about same as Ki61 (same engine), and faster than Spit V, and even climbs about 500 ft better than the Ki61. (about 3500 ft/min up to 12K).
Most of the planes it can't outturn it can outrun. One of the few and most common exceptions is the Spit IX that below 17K always is 10-15mph faster.

However  like stated above, it's puny guns are a real disadvantage in multiple enemy enviroment, since it doesn't have that "one pass kill"-ability, but in most cases need to saddle up on the enemy six. Something that is not healthy with more enemies around.

A real advantage is also it's great fuel endurance. I usually start with no more than 75% fuel, which lasts for ½ hour. That way the climb becomes even better.
